What does resilience look like?
This week, staff in our schools handed out hundreds of grab-and-go meals from school curbsides. They collected students' belongings and brought them to parents’ cars, along with Chromebooks, musical instruments and left-behind medications. Staff transformed sections of two schools into childcare centers for children of parents who work in the emergency or healthcare fields. Teachers created online lesson plans, called and video chatted with their excited students and prepared to launch distance learning efforts which begin Monday.
Students and parents noticed. As they visited schools to retrieve items, families recognized these efforts with smiles, virtual high-fives, “thank you” posters, flowers, pizzas and coffee.
Despite the disruption, chaos and uncertainty these days bring, our entire school community has demonstrated resilience in dozens of ways large and small. And I’ve never been more proud of the people who serve the students and families of this remarkable school district.
Take a brief look at what resilience looks like in Mounds View Public Schools.
Be well,
Superintendent
