Message From Mr. Goddard
Barron Park Elementary
Good Afternoon Barron Park Families,
Hope all of you are doing well. Quite a few meetings took place this past week discussing proposed reopening plans to bring students back on campus for in person instruction. The PAUSD School Board is expected to take some form of action at their next scheduled meeting on September 29th at 6:30 pm. The current proposal being considered continues to be:
- TK – 1 October 12 (2 weeks from now)
- 2 – 3 October 26 (4 weeks from now)
- 4 – 5 November 9 (6 weeks from now)
- 6 – 12 January 7 (start of second semester)
Many of you probably recall that returning to in person instruction is through a small cohort model. Cohort A will attend school in person Monday/Tuesday and every other Wednesday. Cohort B will attend school Thursday/Friday and every other Wednesday. The cohort model is recommended since it involves having ½ a group of students in school at one time and keeps the same cohorts together. We will work closely with families that have more than one child at Barron Park to coordinate schedules so your children are on campus at the same time.
As we prepare for the possible return to in person instruction, PAUSD is surveying families regarding which teaching and learning option you plan to select.
The two options are:
1. Hybrid in Person Model (Cohort A/B)
2. Full Distance Online Learning Model
My recommendation to every family is to select which option works best and are most comfortable with under these current circumstances. All of us at Barron Park will support the decision you make.
Transitional Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and First Grade students are the first cohorts we will consider bringing back to school pending Board approval. Families in these three grade levels need to complete their survey by Wednesday, September 30. Please note, PAUSD will be sending out the same parent survey for grades 2-5 in the next week or two.
On Tuesday, September 29 @ 3:00 pm, I plan to hold a parent informational meeting to clarify any questions and hopefully provide some wisdom that will help with your decision making.
