The 100th Edition Of The Viking Insider

A big thank you to all Viking fans that continue to read the Viking Insider. This week's Viking Insider is the 100th edition. To date, nearly 81,000 people have viewed the Viking Insider. The goal of the Viking Insider from it's inception was to help recognize and share the great accomplishments that go on in Howell activities, clubs and sports. We hope that you have enjoyed the first 100 editions and that you will continue to read the Viking Insider and share it with other Viking fans. Thank you again for your continued support of all of our programs!

55 Vikings To Further Education & Activity/Sport At College Level

The 2016-17 season has been a huge success both in and out of Howell activities, clubs and sports. On Friday, Howell hosted it's second and final "Signing Ceremony" for those student-participants that will be furthering their education and activity/sport at the college level next year. This year 55 student-participants will be moving on to compete in their sport or activity at the college level. These 55 young men and women have not only had success in their activity or sport but have also excelled in the classroom where over the course of their high school career they hold a cumulative GPA of 3.60.


Over the course of the past three years, Francis Howell High School has had 163 student-participants move on to further their education and activity/sport at the college level. These 163 students held a cumulative GPA of 3.55 over the course of their high school careers. You can view the "Signing Class of 2017" below. Varsity & JV Girls Win GAC South Championships

On Friday night the varsity girls track program was able to do something it had not done since 2013, win the GAC South Championship! The Lady Vikings had a dominating performance across almost all events. The JV girls program also won the GAC South Championship in convincing fashion. The boys varsity and JV program also had several standout performances at the GAC South Meet.

Baseball Earns Share Of GAC South Championship

Congratulations to the baseball program on earning a share of the GAC South Championship. The Vikings earned a share of the conference title after splitting with Troy last week. The baseball team will now prepare to defend their 2016 Class 5 State Championship as they get the #1 seed in the District Tournament. Good luck to our Vikings as they head into post-season play!

Girl's Soccer Volunteers With SPENSA

On Saturday the girl's soccer program continued their involvement with the Special Needs Soccer Association (SPENSA). Our Lady Vikings took to the field to help young people with disabilities learn to play soccer. The goal of SPENSA is to bring the excitement and fun of playing soccer to players who traditionally have not had a place in the youth soccer system. JV Soccer Goes Undefeated In GAC South

Congratulations to the JV girl's soccer team for going undefeated in the GAC South! The JV Lady Vikings are currently 12-1-2 on the season and will finish up the season this week with two games. Congratulations to the JV for a strong season! The future certainly looks bright for Lady Vikings Soccer!

Zach Reider Earns Tournament MVP Honors

This past weekend the Boys Volleyball program competed in the very competitive O'Fallon Tournament. Senior Zach Reider was named the Tournament MVP of the two day event. In the fall, Zach will be furthering his education and volleyball career at Quincy University. Congratulations to Zach on a great tournament and career at Howell.

Varsity Golf Finishes Second At Districts; Advances As A Team

The Boys Varsity Golf program had a another strong showing at the District Golf Tournament last week as they finished second in the District to advance as a team. This is the third consecutive year they have advanced out of District play as a team. The Vikings will now compete in the State Sectionals at the Bluffs this week. Band Ends Year With Spring Spectacular Performance

Girls Lacrosse Wins On Senior Night

The Girls Lacrosse program earned a big win on Friday night as they beat Visitation 23-13. The game marked the first time the Lady Vikings have played in the stadium at Howell. In only it's second season, the program recognized seniors Lauren Jacquin, Casey Flemming, Jenna Rygelski, Aliza Webb, Veronica Schroeder, and Kirsten Phillips. Congratulations seniors and thank you for helping to grow the program!

Howell TSA Competes At Boeing Engineering Challenge

The Ninth Annual Boeing Engineering Challenge took place May 3 at Washington University Field House. Francis Howell’s Technical Student Association (TSA) competed for the third year and successfully brought home medals in each division. The competition is to build hand thrown gliders and compete against other area schools in creative appearance, innovative design, straightest flight, longest flight, and other categories. Team Dragonfly consisting of Sierra Rivas, Dustin Burt, and Chris Doering (not pictured) won the most innovative engineering award for Division One. Team Titanic won the medal for the longest time in the air for Division Two. The team consisted of Hamming Lin, Matt Bahan, Michael Spencer, David Yang, and Luke Lalumandier. Division Three straightest flight was won by Team Hindenberg wiith team members Tyler Nadler, Hamming Lin, David Yang, Luke Lalumandier, and Eric Hanson. Thanks to Boeing for hosting the competition. The returning members of the teams are already planning changes for next year.

Kane Katubig Wins MJEA Video Of The Year Award


Congratulations to Kane Katubig on winning the MJEA Video of the Year award. JV Baseball Has Won 9 Of Last 10

The JV Baseball program has put together a strong ten game stretch dating back to early April. The Vikings have won nine of their last ten and are currently 11-3 on the season. The JV will wrap up their season this week by playing three games. Congrats to the JV Baseball team on a great season.
