Virtual Yearbook Portraits!

Virtual Picture Day is coming! On Monday, January 18th you will receive a link to take your picture. Make sure you have your student ID number handy. You or your parent will take your selfie portrait on your phone or computer webcam and upload. Photos are sent directly to our system and are used to create yearbook portraits. This entire three-step process only takes a few seconds. If your photo is rejected for quality issues, you may be asked to retake and submit. The deadline to receive all student portraits is February 1st.

6th,7th,and 8th grade GATE students, if you are interested in being part of this year's Virtual Invention Convention to be held on February 12 at 4 pm, please Email Ms. Simonyan at HSimonyan@gusd.net. Invention Convention is an exciting event which will allow you to display your inventiveness as you follow a step-by-step process to invent a new product or develop a new method of doing something.

Your invention submission will be a Google Slide presentation and you will need to turn in the submission (one per invention) through the Google Classroom no later than February 5th, at 4pm. Additionally, students can choose to do an optional 30-second Flipgrid video. This will not be counted by the judges. This is an extra piece, if you choose to do so.

Since we are now in remote learning, we will have a weekly Question of the Day in the Sunday night call/email. Students/families can submit an answer. A correct response will be randomly selected and the winner will be announced in the following Sunday callout/email. By submitting a response, you are agreeing to having your name announced in the schoolwide call out/email.

Last week’s Question of the Week: In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, this week’s question will reflect on Dr. King’s life: Where was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. born? The answer: Dr. King was born in Atlanta, Georgia.

Congratulations to Dylan Brum a 7th grader from Ms. Panosyan's 2nd period homeroom class for correctly answering the question.
