North Glendale Family Update

November 8, 2020

Good evening!

Families who are directly impacted have been notified but for our whole school community to hear, we do have 4 classrooms who are moving to virtual learning due to quarantine for the next 14 days. This has understandably been an emotional ride for staff and families impacted but with an undercurrent of Team NG ~ we will persevere.

For me, the news this weekend re-emphasized the urgency of safety precautions both at school and outside of school hours. We cannot let our guard down at anytime until we have come to the other side of this pandemic. I ask that our entire NG community comes together to be leaders in mask wearing and social distancing.

All families should be reviewing the Student Symptom Decision Tree before coming to school everyday. Students who are sick, displaying COVID-19 symptoms, or who have recently had close contact with a person with COVID-19 should stay home.

In order to fully communicate with the KSD Community, the District will maintain the COVID-19 Dashboard. The dashboard contains building-specific and district-wide COVID statistics. No personally identifiable information is shared in this dashboard. To view the dashboard, please visit Additionally the Kirkwood School District has developed the "what to do if..." graphic I shared last week about specific scenarios. Please contact your medical provider with questions.

Please reach out if you have any questions, concerns, ideas, or if we can provide support in any way. Thank you for your partnership in keeping the North Glendale community safe.

Reach out if I can be of service!

Covid Exposure and Testing

If your child has been exposed to someone who has tested positive, PLEASE notify school right away. If your child is getting tested, you need to notify us of the testing and send a copy of the results to us. If your child is living in the household with someone who is awaiting test results because that person is either symptomatic or has been exposed to someone who tested positive, your child should stay at home until the test results are in and negative. These measures should be followed even if your child is in the At Home Learning Program.

Join us for PTO this Tuesday!

Please join us this Tuesday, November 10th, for a PTO meeting featuring Mrs. Sisul and two teachers, who will share with us how the transition back to in-person learning is going. They will provide details about how the classrooms look and how the students and staff are adapting. You will be welcome to ask questions during the meeting, or feel free to send questions in advance to Meeting agenda, PTO budget and Zoom link are below.

Early Check Outs: Progress!

Thanks for your consideration scheduling for your kids. We have noticed fewer kids being checked out during the school day.

Each time we have to call into a classroom to notify a student they are leaving, we have disrupted the learning environment, the teacher inevitably has to scramble to pull things together for the student, and instructional time is lost. If a child is coming back to school, we are faced with another set of disruptions.

While it may be unavoidable at times, we ask that during the day check outs are few and far between.

Additionally, because all of our staff are involved in our dismissal routines, beginning in 3rd quarter (January) there will be no dismissals from the office after 3:00 pm.

Last Call for Virtual Book Fair!

Our Book Fair is going online this year! From November 2nd- 14th, discover new books with your kids. Bonus: Every purchase supports our school. Click HERE to enter the fair!

Kirkcare Food Drive!

NG will again face off with Bristol Elementary in Webster for a friendly food collection competition. ( Well, as friendly as we can with a Principal who gets freakishly competitive about these kinds of events.)

We will collect non-perishable food items November 16-19. NO glass containers please!

PTO General Fund

North Glendale School Community:

PDF Version

While this has been a challenging year for everyone, we know this strong community will persevere and continue to provide educational opportunities for our students and teachers. We are moving forward with our annual General Fund Campaign for the 2020-21 school year and we ask families to consider donating to the campaign if they can do so during this difficult time.

The North Glendale PTO is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to support the entire North Glendale community. The General Fund is one of our most important fundraisers and possibly the only fundraiser we will do this year. Instead of asking you or your child to sell cookie dough, pizza, or wrapping paper, we make it easy on everyone and ask for a one-time, tax deductable, monetary donation. Your General Fund Donation is vitally important for our two core initiatives:

Educational Programs, Student Programs and Staff/ Teacher Incidental Programs

・STEM program equipment, Sacs of Science program, and STEM Fest

・Field Trips, Buses, and Art Enrichment (we hope to resume some of these activities next semester)

・Funding for each classroom teacher, school nurse, and specials teachers

Community Programs

・Funding enriching and educational programs for our students

・Assisting with after school and community outreach programs

・Providing one complimentary buzz book per family.

We welcome donations in any amount and greatly appreciate your support. North Glendale Elementary PTO is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization #18599664. All donations are tax deductible. (Please remember to take advantage of any Matching Gift programs you may have through an employer as this can multiply the dollar amount that the school receives.)

You can make your tax deductable General Fund donation right now with your Venmo account. Make payments to @NorthGlendale-PTO, please make sure to specify General Fund.

Thank you for your continued support!
