The team mascot is a muscular seahawk. His name is Blitz. One of the teams nicknames is "water chickens". The name "seahawks" is related to the region because Osprey is the real name for a seahawk. Osprey live near Seattle which is in the Northwest region.
Team History
The Seattle Seahawks were established in 1976. Their general manager was John Schneider. They chose Seattle because seahawks (Osprey) live near Seattle. Seahawks (Osprey) like to live in trees or telephone polls that are near fish and water. Seattle has both of those things.
Team Economy
The name of their stadium is Centurylink Field. Qwest bought Centurylink but there contract was up so they were able to change it back to Centurylink. The stadium used to be called Qwest Field.
Stadiums have been being named after big companies because they have more money for the contract to have their name on the stadium.
