DIVE INTO THE SMM SWIM TEAM

Students in 3rd and 4th grades will compete in an elementary league with meets in Metairie, New Orleans, and Picayune, MS.
Students in 5th through 7th grades will compete in the Metro New Orleans Middle School League and the Northlake Middle School League. Meets will be held in various locations, including Destrehan, New Orleans (UNO), and Mandeville.
Parents must understand that meet attendance will require travel to these locations and is part of the team commitment. Swimmers must have a signed permission slip in order to participate.
There will be a parent Meeting Monday, August 26th, at 5:45 p.m. at Pinewood Plantation, 405 Country Club Blvd., Slidell. Following the parent meeting, the swimmers will be evaluated for lane placement.
The athletic fee to participate on the swim team is $50.00 per swimmer. This is required of every member of the team, even those practicing at other facilities.
Practice Schedule:
Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning August 26th, 5:45 – 6:45 p.m. at Pinewood.
Equipment required:
1. Swimmers must purchase their own competition-style swimsuits. It is recommended that parents order the suits online at www.thefinals.comor www.swimoutlet.com, but there are other sites that stock the suits listed here:
Girls’ suit: The Finals Reactor Splice Competition Back in navy/red.
Boys’ suit: The Finals Reactor Splice Jammer or Racer brief in navy/red.
The sizes used for suits may be unfamiliar for some parents. Please use the sizing guide to determine the proper size to order. Due to the cost of competition suits, swimmers are encouraged to use another suit for practice to maintain the fabric of the competition suit. Suits worn to practice do not have to be competition style. Girls are required to wear one-piece suits and boys should wear trunks.
2. All swimmers must provide their own competition-style goggles. These can be purchased at Academy Sporting Goods or online. Suggested brands: Speedo and Tyr.
If you have any further questions, please contact Team Moderator, Sheila Ganucheau at sganucheau@saintmm.org.
