What's Happening??!!

~ Hawley Elementary School Newsletter: April 3, 2022 ~

From the Desk of Mr. Moretti.....

Dear Hawley Parents/Guardians, Teachers, and Staff,

Spring is trying to arrive, although my mother says we have no more spring (goes from cold to hot). We have Vacation approaching and then the final leg of the year. Many of our typical end of year activities look like they will be returning as they were (yeah!)

Buckle up, stay seated, and keep your hands and feet in the car at all times, as you read on to find out What's Happening at Hawley .....

~ Last of the Restrictions ~

As we have done throughout COVID's decline, we have removed restrictions a few at a time. We will be removing the extra tables in the cafe allowing students to sit with more friends at a table and have more space in the cafe. We can also begin having full school assemblies, which we are excited about. We can't wait to gather again as a school community.

Field Day looks like it will be the way it was, unlimited volunteers. The 4th Grade Celebration also will have an open invite to parents. The PTA will also be having events such as BINGO and Movie Nights. Stay Tuned.....

~ Hawley PTA ~

New President(s) needed for Next Year

Hawley will be in need of new PTA Leadership for the next year. Our current Co-Presidents are moving on as their children are 4th graders and becoming Reed students.

With Hawley being in 2 buildings next year due to the HVAC Project, it is more important than ever to have a PTA presence. Our PTA provides so much to our school included but not limited to: Ice Cream Social, Book Fair, School Photos, Bingo & Movie Nights, Trunk or Treat, Holiday Bazaar, Author Visits, Meals for Staff, Breakfast Cart, Field Day, and so much more.

These events can not run without PTA and PTA can not run without new Leadership. PTA Presidents will have my complete support in making the work manageable and collaborative.

Please consider stepping up and continuing the important work of the PTA. If interested, please email The Nominating Committee, Laura Omiston, Jon Padilla & Carla Tischio (laurajeang5@aol.com , jonpadilla@yahoo.com , tischioc@newtown.k12.ct.us ). Please let your interest be known as soon as possible.

You may also feel free to reach out to me with any questions that you might have.
I thank you for your consideration.

Out of the Mouths of Babes.....

Mr. M was walking down the hall with his lunch heading to a meeting. He had a sandwich on Pumpernickel bread.

" Cool, Mr. M has Chocolate Bread " said a 1st grader

" No, it's Pumpernickel " replied Mr. M

" What's Puckermickle? " another student inquired

" Pumpernickel " repeated Mr. M

" What's Muckerpickle? " asked another student

" P-Ump-ER Nick-el " Mr. M enunciated

" yeah, what is it " the students asked

To which a now late Mr. M replied, " Chocolate Bread "
