ELAR - Mrs. Roan
Reading: This week we will review fiction and focus on skills such as identifying point of view, theme and what plot structure is.
Writing: We will continue working on responding to texts in written answers & practice editing & revising sentences.
Spelling: This week's pattern is compound words & abbreviations. This has continued from last week. Spelling Test will be Friday, March 1st.
Math - Mrs. Schmidt
This week we will be wrapping up equivalent fractions and moving on to comparing fractions. We will look at how to find equivalent fraction without a model. We will then learn about how to comparing fractions with and without models. The family tip sheet for this topic is below!
**This year we will be learning all about multiplication. One amazing thing that you can be doing at home is practicing a memorizing those facts. Knowing these facts will help your students confidence in solving multiplication and division problems soar as well as set them up for success for the rest of 3rd grade. If you need some multiplication flash cards please let me know**

We will be celebrating Black History Month by researching famous inventors, activists, and scientists.
4th Grade
Austin Field Trip T-Shirts

The t-shirt company will give us the shirts and we will hand them out to homeroom teachers before the field trip. T-shirts will cost $11.00 to $14.00, depending on the size. The parent must purchase the t-shirt for their child, teachers will not be responsible for purchasing the t-shirts this year.
ELAR - Ms. Heaton
Next week we continue our Module 6, "Marvels of Nature", with a literary nonfiction called "Grand Canyon: A Trail Through Time." While reading, we will focus on making inferences and author's craft.
For grammar, we will be focusing on prepositional phrases.
We will resume our spelling with prefixes!

This week we will continue with the Civil War, paying close attention to the role that Texas played in the Civil War, including important battles fought in Texas.
