What's happening at TPCHS?
Letter from the Principal
A notable change that will take place for the 2017-2018 school year...all parent correspondences will be sent via the Principal's newsletter. After this edition, you should expect an additional newsletter on July 7th, July 21st and then beginning on August 4th, you will receive a weekly correspondence.
The intention of streamlining the correspondences sent to parents is to maximize the effectiveness of communicating while eliminating the large number of newsletters and emails previously sent by our TPCS staff. While our intentions are pure in keeping our families well informed, we listened to your request to minimize the frequency of newsletters. We encourage you to look for the informative newsletters and continue to provide our staff with feedback that improves the process.
I look forward to seeing you in August. I miss my students already! Have a refreshing summer!
Blessings In Christ,
Mr. Jason Klingerman

New Staff Introductions
Jim Eliot, Life Science Teacher
Since youth, I have enjoyed spending time in the outdoors through involvement with family campouts and boy scouts. My original desire was to become a park ranger so I served as a seasonal (summer) ranger at Devil's Tower National Monument, Wyoming and Mammoth Cave National Park, Kentucky. Later, I had the opportunity to work for three recreation departments as a recreation leader in California. It was during college at California Polytechnic State University that I felt called to teach while working as a student field teacher at an outdoor environmental school program.
After completing college and earning a degree in Environmental and Systematic Biology, I had the opportunity to substitute teach. This led, eventually, to me obtaining teaching credentials in multiple subjects within the discipline of science. I have taught for many years various grade levels including elementary, middle school, junior high and high school. Most recently, I served as a science teacher at a Christian high school and taught Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology 2 (Marine science/biology and Anatomy/Physiology).
As a Christian, I am passionate for not only knowing God and His word but in also teaching/sharing it with others. My greatest desire of all? Seeing others grow in their relationship with Christ and, in particular, grow in their knowledge of God's character.
I am married to my lovely wife, Kim, and have two daughters, a son, and three (soon to be four) grandchildren.
Melissa Underwood, Front Desk Receptionist and HS Principal Administrative Assistant
Hello, my name is Melissa Underwood. I have been happily married to my high school sweetheart, Mark, for the past 26 years. We have been blessed with 5 beautiful children (C. Jay 25, Nate 22, Tori 18, Titus 15 and Eli 13), a daughter-in-law (Kendra) and soon to be son-in-law (Brandyn). I attended Purdue University and the College of DuPage pursuing degrees in Education, Nursing and Accounting. For the past 8 years, I have been employed at Parkview Christian Academy in Yorkville, IL, as part of the Administrative Support Staff and the last 7 years as the Executive Assistant to the Superintendent. This past December, after 22 years in IL, my husband was offered the opportunity to relocate to Indianapolis. With any change there is a bit of uncertainty, yet we are excitedly anticipating all that God has for us in this new chapter of our lives.
It is my opinion that Christian schools should not exist to replace Christian parenting, but Christian education should function as an extension of what parents are seeking to accomplish in the academic and spiritual lives of their children. The overarching goal being to educate students from a Biblical worldview and equip them to reach their highest individual potential so they will be equipped, as 2 Corinthians 10:4b-5 states, "to demolish arguments and every high minded thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ." It is refreshing to know that Traders Point is not only aligned with the above, but as our Superintendent at Parkview refers to it, 'graciously unapologetically' reaching out to, as Acts 2:39 states, "those afar."
From the transfer offer in December to our upcoming move to Indy, it is evident that God continues to walk ahead of us and that His hand is directing, guiding and weaving together all of the details of our relocation to Indiana and very specifically to Traders Point. I am thrilled to have been asked to become part of the ministry at Traders Point and I am super excited and looking forward to meeting and serving the students, parents, visitors and staff of Traders Point, as the High School Receptionist/Administrative Assistant.
Peter Lucht, Math Teacher and HS Men's Soccer Coach
Greetings in Christ! My name is Peter Lucht, and we are excited and blessed to have our family be a new part of the Traders Point Christian Schools family! My role among you will be two-fold: I will be serving as both a High School Teacher and Boys Soccer Head Coach / Director. There is no doubt in my mind that God has led us to be here, with all of you. Although I grew up in a Christian home, my relationship with Christ began in college. God got a hold of my life while I was in Germany, at a Bible school in a little town in the North called Brake. It was there where I met Roger, a missionary to Germany and my mentor, who pointed out all of the times that God had intervened in my life, and how He was currently at work in my life. He asked the question, “Do you know how much God loves you?” It hit me that if God did not care for me, He would not have been involved in my life and pursued me. I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior on the spot; and He gave me a peace in knowing that I was His. Since that point, God has put on my heart a desire to give back and serve others in various ways. Whether it is in the classroom or workplace, on or off the field, interpersonally or financially, the mission field is all around us.
God has blessed me with an amazing family! My wife of 12 years is also going to be teaching here at Traders Point Christian Schools! She has written a bio as well, so you may want to look for that. We also have four very active young children that will all be here at Traders Point! Lorelai, 6, will be in First Grade. Isaiah, 4, will be in Pre – K. While Jazette, 3, and Lukas 2 (in July), will be in our Early Education programs.
My educational background includes undergraduate and graduate work at Grace College & Theological Seminary. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Mathematics & Missions, and a Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies. I served as a Youth Pastor for a 3 years and was in business for 4 years before becoming a teacher at Warsaw. I added 4 years of teaching experience at Warsaw Community Schools, teaching both Middle School & High School Mathematics while serving as both a Tech Mentor and on our PLC team.
Share the Gospel with the World by Hosting a TPCS International Student
How do you "go into all the world and share the Gospel" if you can't head to Asia, South America or Europe? Consider hosting a TPCS International Student in 2017-2018! This is a vital ministry for Christ and our school in every way, and a blessing for you to love on a kiddo who is thousands of miles from their family and home. Students come to us to receive the best education as they prepare to attend a US college. What do you have to do?
- Be a TPCS or TPCC family
- Provide a loving Christian home to a student for the 2017-2018 school year or for two months Mid-October through Early December
- Take them to church with you and involve them in your own bible studies
- Provide daily meals, school related transportation and involve them in your family
- Help them learn about the US and Christ
- Support them academically as you would your own children
We will need 2-5 families for the full school year (Chinese girls and boys in high school) and 2-3 for short-term Guatemalan student placements from mid-October through mid-December. We provide a monthly stipend August – May which pays added expenses of having an extra person in your home. TPCS provides medical insurance, they bring their own personal spending money and they are required to return home or participate in a planned US travel experience during Fall, Christmas and Spring breaks. You tell us your preference for the gender of your hosting student. Could God be calling you to open your heart and home to one of his children? Classes begin in 6 weeks. Please contact Mrs. Toni Kanzler right away with any questions and to learn how to apply to be a host family.
