High School Senior Internship in Education
Dear Seniors (and Juniors),
We’re excited to share out information about the launch of our High School Senior Internship in Education program, which will begin following our return from April break. The HPS Senior Internship in Education Program (HSSIEP) provides motivated seniors (and rising seniors) interested in a possible career in education or human services (and those who may not be but are interested in working in our schools) the opportunity to complete a paid work-based learning education internship in a HPS K-8 classroom. This is part of a comprehensive educational experience that includes being mentored by a staff member.
Interns will be paired with HPS educators based on mutual interest in the internship. Depending on placement, the role might include:
helping lead lessons and activities
assisting the teacher with classroom duties and responsibilities
working with students 1:1 or in small groups
assisting with student supervision
If you are interested, please fill out the application available here. Applications are due Monday, March 20, 2023.
If you have any questions, email Assistant Superintendent Jeff LaBroad (jlabroad@hopkinton.k12.ma.us).
Locker Room

February Study of the Month Winner - Lucas Pereira
Our February Student of the Month winner voted on by faculty and staff is Lucas Pereira, a sophomore here at HHS.
Here are some of the things the staff had to say about Lucas:
- Lucas is one of the nicest, sweetest, most respectful students that I have ever had in all of my years teaching. Lucas is a friend to every single one of his classmates. He is always offering to help his peers in class and will work with any partner given. Lucas loves to volunteer answers and especially loves to present problems on the board. He is kind and thoughtful to anyone he meets. Anytime he walks by my classroom, he always stops to wave and say hi. No matter how challenging the material is, Lucas is always positive about it. I have never heard him complain about a single thing. He always turns any negative into a positive. He works extremely hard and puts in lots of time and effort into his studies. Lucas is also an extremely talented drummer. He spends his weekend playing the drums at his church. Lucas recently just won a gold medal for his drumming and will compete in state's. Lucas is so appreciative of the time and help he receives from his teachers. Lucas is a great student, friend and is so deserving of this award.
- I have known Lucas since his freshman year. He is one of the kindest and most respectful students. He always stops by my classroom even when he doesn't have my class, just to say hello and to ask me how my day is going. I have also seen him interact with other teachers with the utmost respect. Lucas is a Former English Learner student and has developed great communication skills. Lucas is also so talented at playing drums. He recently won a gold medal and is going to perform at the State level competition. To sum it all up, Lucas is a true young gentleman and has a bright future ahead of him.
- Lucas is a walking ray of sunshine. He has an amazing attitude, is friendly, kind and seems to be so appreciative for the opportunity to be in school learning.
- I also had the pleasure to have Lucas as a student last year and I mirror both comments mentioned above.
- Lucas is always so pleasant and friendly when he comes through the cafeteria.
Congratulations to Lucas! And thank you to ReMax and the HPTO for sponsoring this award!

AP Computer Science A
The AP CSA students got a chance to visit several exhibits at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC. One exhibit in particular uses artificial intelligence "to interpret and transform the Museum’s data set—to create new forms that could exist in the archive but don’t, to think about all the paths not taken in the history of modern art and to speculate about what they might be." Check out the details here!

NHS & NAHS
Students: if you did Square One Art for NAHS or NHS, make sure to share this info with your parents/guardians/friends about ordering keepsakes made with your art!
Parents/Guardians: If your child is in National Art Honor Society or National Honor Society, there is a good chance that they did Square One Art recently! Some students did more than one (see list below). If they did participate, your student either has received or will receive a packet that has ordering information (and stickers of their art!) but you don't need that to order.
Go to https://shop.square1art.com/Shop/artwork/Search
Type in our state (Massachusetts...) and school (Hopkinton High School...). then search by last name! You'll be able to find their art and buy it on all sorts of things!
You have until March 24th to order (even though the packets say March 15th - we got the deadline extended).
The profits from this go to fund a variety of service projects here at the high school (through NAHS and NHS) - which is a great reason to support the fundraiser! But the best reason to do it is nostalgia - remember when they did Square One Art in elementary school? Now you can have a keepsake from high school too!
