Make a Note
Please read below of some important information to make a note of and who to contact if you have questions.
- Closed Campus Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday - Due to state testing and security requirements, we are closing the campus to visitors on the days where full grade levels are testing. This means that no visitors for any grade level will be allowed into the building for lunch or other reasons. We apologize for this inconvenience. Contact Mrs. Ashlock with any questions.
- Lost and Found - Please ask your child check the lost and found for any items they may have misplaced. It is overflowing with jackets and lunch kits. At the end of the year, these items will either be disposed of or donated. Contact the front office with any questions.
- Rested, Ready Students - If you have a 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader, please consider ways you can help them prepare to be well-rested and prepared for testing on their testing days this week. Eating a healthy breakfast after a full night's sleep will ensure students are able to be at their best and focus on their work. Contact your child's teacher with any questions specific to your child.
- Be sure to pre-register if you will be attending the PK, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th End-of-Year Classroom Recognition Events.
THANK YOU!
Our staff would like to expess our gratitude for the outpouring of love you showed us this week. The sodas, teas, snacks, baked goods, and cards that were sent in as part of our "stock the lounge" events were so appreciated. Your generosity was noted and enjoyed by the entire staff. We also want to send out a special shout out to our PTO for all of their efforts to make Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week so special. We were blessed to enjoy ice cream treats after school on Monday, a special teacher gift on Tuesday, Sonic drinks on Wednesday, and a taco luncheon on Friday. Thank you so much! WE appreciate YOU!
End of Year Celebrations
We are excited to celebrate our students' work and good character demonstrated throughout the 2021-2022 school year. For our fifth graders, we will be recognizing their step up to sixth grade in a ceremony on Wednesday, May 25, at 9:00 in the cafeteria. Our kindergarteners will celebrate the completion of what for many was their first year in school on Thursday, May 26, at 9:00 in the cafeteria. Families are invited. These two ceremonies will each last around 30 minutes.
Other grade levels will have their end-of-year classroom recognition events in their classrooms. Parents will be invited to these celebrations as well, but are asked to limit the number of attendees to two family members per student due to space constraints.
- Pre-K - Monday, May 23, 1:30 p.m.
- 3rd Grade - Monday, May 23, 2:30 p.m.
- 1st Grade - Tuesday, May 24, 9:30 a.m.
- 2nd Grade - Tuesday, May 24, 1:30 p.m.
- 4th Grade - Tuesday, May 24, 2:30 p.m.
Each student will be recognized in these classroom events which should last around 20-30 minutes. To pre-register for PK, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th grade events, complete the information in this link. If you have not previously scanned your ID at the school this year, you will need to come by and do that in order to have your visitor badge pre-printed.
STAAR Test This Week
It is our goal to have 100% of our 3rd-5th grade students in attendance for their tests. STAAR testing dates are listed below:
- Tuesday, May 10th: 3rd-5th Math
- Wednesday, May 11th-:3rd-5th Reading
- Thursday, May 12th: 5th Science
- Thursday, May 12th: Make ups for 3rd & 4th any subject
- Friday, May 13th: Make-ups for any grade or subject
- Monday, May 16th: Make-ups for any grade or any subject
What if I decide not to send my child for the STAAR test?
By law, all eligible students present at school on a test date must be included in the test administration. Campus officials must submit a score code for every student, in accordance with TEA test administration guidelines. Students who are absent on the scheduled testing dates will be provided an opportunity to make up a missed test on May 12th- May 16th. On May 12th (3rd & 4th only) and May 13th (3rd-5th), students will take the test in the mode (online or paper) they were originally slated to take. May 16th (3rd-5th) the make-up will be provided online. If you child does not take the STAAR test, they will be required to attend accelerated instruction next school year as required by HB 4545. This house bill requires 30 hours of additional instruction for each subject a student did not pass or take the STAAR test. This can be provided by the campus before, after, or during school.
If you have questions about the STAAR test and the state requirements, please contact our Campus Testing Coordinator, Cheryl Mallant, at 936-276-4715.

If your child needs to leave early, they may be checked out through the front office by a parent or guardian.
Changes in transportation need to be made prior to 2:00 in order to allow time for the messages to be communicated with the appropriate staff member. To request a change of transportation, either
- Send a note with your child,
- Email LincolnElementaryTransit@misd.org with the note and a copy of your driver's license, or
- Come to the school with a copy of your driver's license.
