CHS BOYS AND GIRLS GOLF PROGRAM SPENDS THE DAY AT THE PHOENIX OPEN
The Combs High School Boys and Girls Golf Programs each year have the great opportunity to participate in the Waste Management Phoenix Open as score bearers. The boys and girls start the day early at 6am and typically volunteer on the day of the Pro-Am. This day is filled with celebrities from Country Music, Hollywood and Major League sports figures playing alongside the PGA professional.
The Girls Golf team played alongside former Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox player Shane Victorino and PGA players Scott Piercy and Danny Lee. The Boys Team was paired up with Professional Tennis Star Josh Isner and PGA players Sung Kang and Kevin Streelman. The event is a great way for the boys and girls to see a professional golfer up close as they walk alongside the Tour player and to give of their time to a great event. Each student usually walks away with several autographs and big smiles!
Combs Girls Golf at this year's event was Olivia Newell, Maylee Lunt, and Saydie Udall. The Combs Boys golfers were Luke Bacon, Wyatt Larsen, DJ Mathus, and Justin Aikens.
COUNSELORS CORNER
Did you know? The Combs High School choir knocked it out of the part with their performance of the Star Spangled Banner at our 8th Grade Orientation night. Their A Capella rendition was beautiful and a great example of their abilities. This program has a lot of room for growth, so even if you think you "can't sing" you should give it a try! Talk to your counselor or Mr. Pennington if you have any questions.
Upcoming events:
- February 13 and 14: EVIT on campus to meet with potential students
- February 27: ACCUPLACER test, administered by CAC
- March 6: End of Quarter 3 and beginning of Spring Break
