Erik Erikson

child development theoreist

Psychosocial and development theory

  • Erikson is best known for his reaserch in psychosocial.
  • stage 1-trust vs. mistrust: the first stage of his theory of psychosocial development occurs betwwen birth and one year of age and is the most fundemental stage in life. An infant is utterly independent. the development of trust is based on the dependability and quality of the childs caregivers.
  • stage 2-sham vs. doubt: tye second stage takes plaec during early childhood and is focussed on children developing a greater sense of personal control. he believed that toilet training would lead to a feeling of control and a sense of independence. Other important events including gaining control over food choices, toy preferences and clothing selection. Children who successfully complete this stage feel secure and confident , while those who do not are left with a sense of inadequency and self dought.
  • Eriksons theory starts at birth goes trough addolesense an dyoung adult all the way until death

do you agree/disagree/ how do you observe this in your work?

I agree with Erikson's theory because all the stages teach the right thing at the right times. Each stage is taught throughout life4 so that people will get the full outcime wich is wisdome. His points and theories are very thought out and accurate. I observe this by the kids that get more responsability are the ones who get in less trouble.
