JSE Tracks

Principal's Weekly News December 1st

Keeping you informed of all the "tracks" we make at school and in our community!

Happy 1st week of December JSE Families! Hope you all had a nice long weekend enjoying our last days of Fall weather. These next three weeks before winter break will fly by and as I am sure you feel the same way, we have A LOT on our "To Do" list of learning between now and then!

As I visited classrooms today, I was pleased to see that students have jumped right back into the schoolhouse routine. 5th graders were eager to return to their novel study with Mrs. Reid. I have included several pictures of them reading individually, with partners, and in small focus groups. I had the chance to watch them in action diligently working through their reading guide. These students have developed into skilled book critics! We look forward to their book review on the JSE news.

After a week of nose to the grindstone learning, we will have some festive fun late Friday afternoon with a holiday craft and cookies. A time for our JSE family to get into the spirit together! I also look forward to another Principal's Breakfast Thursday morning with our students who exemplified the successful learning trait of perseverance.

Thank you for being our partners in education,

Leigh Barnes

Dr. Gilmore will visit us on Wednesday for our 1st grade vision checks. Information went home to 1st grade parents regarding participation and parents can expect an exam report to come home on Wednesday. Please call us should you have any questions!

Did you know it's National Handwashing Awareness Week? (I didn't either!) Mrs. Maniszko will be visiting classrooms reading short stories and discussing the importance of handwashing to reduce germ spreading.
