Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
Spring is here! This year is flying by! The sun is coming back out and the temperature is rising.
The NYS Math assessments will take place on May 4-7 for Grades 3-6. Each grade will be assessed on their own day: Grade 3 (5/4), Grade 4 (5/5), Grade 5 (5/6), Grade 6 (5/7).
On May 14th we will be having our virtual open house event. The students have created projects to be displayed on the website. A sheet will be posted on the Website around 3:00 that will include all of the teacher's links to view the students' hard work. Take some time that day or over the weekend to view the projects together.
Our District Budget Vote is from 6am to 9pm on May 18th. All are encouraged to come out and vote.
I invite all parents to attend our PTA meeting which will take place on Wednesday, May 19th, at 7:30 p.m.
Our evacuation drill will take place at 9:00 on May 27th and that same day will be our early dismissal drill. Kindergarten will dismiss at 2:30 p.m. and Grades 1-6 will dismiss at 2:35 p.m. After care will remain open.
June will be here very soon, so please mark your calendars for our last day of school, which is Friday, June 25th. It is 1 hour in length and dismissal will be at 9:30 a.m.
Let's have a great month of May!
Sincerely,
Hillary K. Bromberg, Ed.D.

Did You Know we Have a Direct Absence Line?
Please be reminded that regular school attendance is not only mandated by law, but is a key ingredient for educational success. Legal reasons for absences include: illness, death in family, court appearances, and observance of religious holidays. If your child is frequently absent due to illness, you will be contacted and medical documentation may be requested. All other absences will be considered unexcused or truant.
Please also be aware that lateness to school can be considered partial truancy and is monitored as closely as absences. Chronic lateness is disruptive to the students in the class, the teacher, and most importantly, to the child. Parents and guardians are asked to contact the school to report each absence. This can be done by calling our Absentee Line at 516-379-3733. If you are requesting classwork and/or homework for your child on the day of the absence, please leave that message with the nurse or on the absence line. Parents are requested to submit a written and signed excuse note for each absence your child has, when they return to school.
