OES Family Update
October 5th, 2023
OES Vision: At Oregon Elementary School, we are a community that cultivates academic excellence and empowers young leaders to make a positive impact on the world
Message from the Principal
Families,
It has been a delight getting to see so many of you at Parent/Teacher Conferences this week. Your partnership in the educational process is one we value and couldn't have a successful school year without. I appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedules to meet with your child's teacher to hear about their progress in school this year. I was especially proud of those students who participated in a student-led conference and were able to show their parents firsthand exactly what they have been learning so far this year. I encourage you to continue to keep the lines of communication open with our staff so we can continue to work together to make this the best school year yet.
Sincerely,
Ryan Huels
Principal
No School
We will have no school for students or staff on Friday October 6th and Monday October 9th following Parent/Teacher Conferences. Enjoy the long weekend and the Autumn on Parade festivities with your friends and family!
Halloween Logistics
- We will allow students/classes to celebrate Halloween on Tuesday October 31st.
- Students are permitted to wear their costumes to school that day. A $1 donation to our PBIS/Student Recognition fund is appreciated for those that choose to do so. For those that choose not to wear it all day, there will be time to change after lunch.
- We will hold a parade starting at approximately 2:15 PM. We will follow the traditional route along the front of the school, starting at our main entrance along the sidewalk east on Hawk Drive, and entering back in the building by the Jefferson Wing. Families are invited to stand on either side of the sidewalk and cheer on our students as they walk in the parade.
- We will not be sending home students early, families wishing to pick their child up after the parade will be asked to wait until 3:05 as classes will finish activities after the parade.
- No masks, weapons, blood/gore, profanity will be permitted. Costumes should be able to be put on and kept on without the assistance of an adult.
Family Math Resources
Our staff does a great job of providing resources/opportunities to practice math skills, but if you are in need of additional ideas to add to your routine, check out the link below.

Family Movie Night and McTeacher Night
We have 2 events coming up for the community that we would love to see as many students as possible.
On Tuesday October 24th, we will have our 1st Family Night of the year with a Halloween Movie night. The event is free to attend and we will be selling bags of popcorn for $1. Bring your own comfy seating and we will spread out in the Main gym.
On Monday October 30th, our staff will be holding a fundraiser at the Oregon McDonald's from 4-7 PM for McTeacher Night. Our staff will be working the Drive Thru, Cash Registers, Greeting, and helping out throughout the restaurant. Funds raised will go towards our Student Recognition programs at OES.
