Who was Clara Barton?

Clara volunteered as a nurse during the Civil War. Later, she founded the American Red Cross. She knew nothing about nursing when the war started. She put herself onto the battlefield of Antietam, following Sumner’s II Corps with medical supplies. Clara Barton was a union nurse. Clara recruited other nurses in the war to help save the lives of the soldiers on the battlefield.

The Red Cross

Clara Barton was the founder of the red cross on May 21, 1881. She encouraged women to join the nursing force and become an angel of the battlfield.

Always Remembered

Clara Barton is still remebered today as the women who took the soldiers under her wing, and saved lives. This is a childrens book that was wrote to help kids learn how Clara influenced the war.
