EBT Cards
Parents--We were notified by many families on Monday, May 3rd that they received an EBT card for their child in the mail. This came as a bit of a surprise to our administration as this program has changed a bit over the past year due to the pandemic.
- Our district (K-12) is in our first year as a CEP (Community Eligibility Provision) district. This is the program that began in August to provide all of our K-12 students with a free breakfast and a free lunch. The criteria (for a district/building) to qualify is based on your entire Free/Reduced rates. Each family still had to turn in a financial document to start the year, however all children still qualified for the program. The document was to verify district need for CEP, but it is also needed for other funding related to instruction/curriculum/student supports.
- Criteria to qualify for EBT assistance (as our families received this week), is that a district and/or building must qualify which we do as a CEP district. The district and/or building had to have been closed due to the pandemic, which we were (during March) right before Spring Break. If this criteria is met, then MDHHS will look at individual students that qualify for free/reduced meals (all students in our district) and provide the necessary assistance.
- So essentially all of our students qualified for EBT assistance in the month of March due to our district being CEP and our buildings being closed due to the pandemic.
This is the information we have received from MDHHS to relay to our families. If you have more questions or concerns about these benefits, they ask that you send an email to:
We are not sure if this assistance will continue in the month of April, since we were also closed for part of that month. However, it is possible more assistance could be uploaded to your child's card at a future date.
