September 11th ~ Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Rememberance

On this day Americans across the country are called to volunteer in their local communities in tribute to the individuals lost and injured in the attacks, first responders, and the many who have risen in service to defend freedom. Our school will participate in this day of service. Each class will decide how they would like to contribute.

Be sure to wear RED-WHITE and BLUE that day!

PLAYWORKS is coming to LES

Dear LES School Family,

I am excited to share that our school is partnering with Playworks to help reboot our recess!

We are proud to partner with Playworks to make recess a fun, inclusive time for every student in our community. Playworks is the leading national nonprofit using play to transform schools. A Playworks recess creates a place for every kid on the playground to feel included, be active, and build valuable social and emotional skills.

Get Excited!

Playworks Trainer, Heather Checky will be at our school on Friday - Wednesday from Sep. 20 – Sep 25, 2019. Playworks’ main focus will be to help us assess and set goals for our school recess, provide our staff with additional professional development, as well as launch and demo best practices that will help bring safe and healthy play to our school!

Coach Checky will be joining the school assembly on Monday to introduce herself and her role during the week. During the week, staff and students will learn new skills and expectations for safe and fun recess games and activities.

Visit the Recess Reboot welcome page (www.playworks.org/services/welcome/recess-reboot) to learn more.

Thank you for your support and please join me in welcoming Coach Checky to Litchfield!
