Revised School Start/End Times
Dear NSSD Families,
We’re excited to see our students return to school in a few weeks for another year of learning and growing!
We are writing to share some small adjustments to our school start and end times for the 2023-24 school year. Due to the recent passage of Oregon Senate Bill 819 regarding abbreviated school day programs, school schedules must be aligned across the district. This alignment is regarding the total minutes during each school day. This does not mean each school must have the same actual start and end times, which you will notice when you see the adjusted school schedules below. We kept the adjustments as minimal as possible, with most schools seeing just a five-minute difference.
What this means for our students:
Students will have access to the same number of learning minutes as the majority of students in their same grade across the district. These adjustments will align learning time no matter which NSSD school they attend.
What this means for families:
While we worked to balance adjustments across the district, your student’s start and end times may shift by a few minutes. We know managing childcare, work, and day-to-day schedules is a juggling act, so we wanted to give you as much notice as possible!
What this means for our schools:
Our teachers and staff will be adjusting to this new schedule too! Expect to see this minimal adjustment reflected in the daily schedules posted on your school website and in communications from your school principal. Our routines of bussing, class schedules, and lunch periods will continue as usual, just shifted a few minutes.
Here are our school start and end times by building for the 2023-24 school year. The times that are changing are highlighted in bold. There are no changes to Mari-Linn or Stayton High School times.
Monday (Late Start):
- Stayton Elementary: 9:00am - 2:30pm
- Stayton Inter./Middle: 9:00am - 2:45pm
- Sublimity (K-3): 9:00am - 2:40pm
- Sublimity (4-8): 9:00am - 2:45pm
- Mari-Linn: 8:45am - 2:30pm
- Stayton High School: 9:00am - 3:00pm
- Locust Street Academy: 9:00am - 3:00pm
Tuesday - Friday (Regular Start Times):
- Stayton Elementary: 8:00am - 2:30pm
- Stayton Inter./Middle 8:00am - 2:45pm
- Sublimity (K-3): 8:00am - 2:40pm
- Sublimity (4-8): 8:00am - 2:45pm
- Mari-Linn: 7:45am - 2:30pm
- Stayton High School: 8:00am - 3:00pm
- Locust Street Academy: 8:00am - 3:00pm
