Technology Consulting Teacher-/Technology tickets---who? what? how?
We are fortunate to have a Technology Consulting Teacher this year. Many of you are probably thinking things like: How do I take advantage of this resource? Who do I talk to for what technology needs? Well, hopefully this will help!
Both our Literacy and Math trilaterals have strands that focus on utilizing the expertise of our Technology Coach to enhance our instruction. So, think of that in terms of tools a teacher could use to increase opportunities for students to interact with the content. Maybe you want to:
Skype with a class over at Bryant for a project OR even a class in a different state or country
Learn how you can use Flipgrid more efficiently to allow students opportunities to practice the Listening and Speaking standards but you are not sure how
Figure out a way to give students an opportunity to create a product during a must do/may do but you aren't quite sure how to
Allow opportunities for students to sort their Words Their Way words utilizing technology instead of cutting
Have students experience a moment in history or science in a different way than just the textbook
Organize your own self in a different manner so that you can be more efficient in your daily work
Well........those are just a FEW of the things that Jenny can help you with! There are many things she can do to help support the content areas. I encourage you to reach out to her.
So, what does that mean for the rest of my technology needs? If you have issues with computers, dual boards, etc. Those are still items that fall under Angie's wheelhouse. You would put in a ticket for those items. That also allows the district to track the needs that every building has.
Making Kids Read Fast is NOT the Goal of Fluency Instruction
Here is a link to a nice article by Tim Rasinkski. Take a look.
Anxiety in girls
Click on the link below to read some thoughts on reframing anxiety. The article is focused on girls but I think the sentiments apply to others as well.

Reminders:
Remember to hand out tickets, tickets, tickets. We are establishing expected behaviors in all areas. The idea is to saturate the students with lots of tickets in the beginning and slowly begin to fade to what might be a "typical" level.
Lunch Room trophies will be in full effect this week. Classrooms will need to earn at least 2 trophies this week to earn free seating on Wednesday! That is a change for the short week.
Here are some ideas also for Alternatives to Losing Recess:
Working Lunch
Walking around the playground/pod
Loss of screen time rather than recess time
Designated recess area that still allows for activity but away from students
Losing use of playground equipment/game
Cleaning up 10 items on playground or wiping down slides before start to play
Participate in a job that requires movement

We all know the benefits to being physically active and the importance of exercise. Not only does walking get us up and moving, but it is also a way to help us connect with others.
Stay tuned for our route. This will take place on October 2nd from 2:30-3:00. It is time to #GetYourWalkOn2019
