5 Facts of the Chavez/Chicano Movement

- As a kid, Chavez worked as a farm worker. After, he joined the navy, but started working on farms again after he left.


- He was trained to be a community organizer. He was so skilled that he later became the leader of the group that taught him.


- Chavez formed the National Farm Workers Association in 1962.


- Merged his union with another union of Filipino farm laborers.


- He was able to secure raises and improve conditions for farm workers in California, Texas, Arizona, and Florida.

Why I chose the Chavez/Chicano Movement

I chose this because Cesar Chavez had made conditions better for farm workers and had gave them benefits. And also cause he's Mexican and so am I so like, that's pretty chill and I give him respect for that alone. And also because he changed the way farm workers were treated since then.
