Elementary News & Update
Balance. That word has come up in many conversations lately. It is a challenge to balance life when our "normal" seems so contrary to normal. We are hearing the perspectives of many - "we should be back five days per week", "We should all be distance learning", "there is too much work", "the workload is not enough", "the technology does not work", "the technology is too much".
We know these challenges present themselves differently to every family and student. Please know we hear you. Some things are out of our control, some are things we can change. Please know we are in this together. If you have a question, concern, or a celebration, please reach out and let us know.
I received multiple emails over the last week from parents expressing gratitude to teachers. I read them to the teachers during a staff meeting and the emotions they invoke are heartwarming. I received a card, too, that I sincerely appreciated! Our families are amazing. The point I am trying to make is that we know these are tough times. Yet, you/we/us are not alone. We can rely and lean on each other!
We continue to hear that our students are stressed, worried, anxious, etc. These emotions are normal, but can be concerning if prolonged and/or unaddressed over time. If you/your family/son/daughter are experiencing emotional needs, mental health concerns, etc. you are encouraged to seek support. Homecroft Elementary has partnered with HDC to provide support to students and families. This support is private, virtual, and available to anyone regardless of insurance/finances. Please contact your child's teacher, Mr. Cawcutt, and/or the office if you would like further information.
Take care of you, your family, and our students,
Mr. Cawcutt
Fall Conferences
Fall Conferences
We will be having our Homecroft fall conferences from November 9th through November 20th. Teachers will be communicating with families to provide either a phone conference or a virtual conference. Please connect with your child's teacher about setting up a time for a phone or virtual conference if you have not heard from them.

Elementary In-Person Schedule Adjustment
Monday/Tuesday (Cohort A) and Thursday/Friday (Cohort B)
During the week of November 23-27, there are three days of school preceding the
Thanksgiving holiday. Students in Cohort B (students normally attending on Thursday
and Friday) will make a temporary switch and attend in-person on Monday and Tuesday.
Students in Cohort A (students normally attending on Monday and Tuesday) will remain at home on Monday and Tuesday. Thursday and Friday that week are holidays, school is not in session.
This adjustment is being made to ensure Thursday/Friday holidays are impacting in-person elementary students in a balanced way.
During the week of October 12-16 students in Cohort B received no in-person learning due to the Thursday/Friday MEA holiday.
Please contact the school if you have questions, thanks for your patience and understanding.
