Note from the Principal

Those who attended the CCS Drama Production of Fools this past weekend were no “fools”. It was money well spent for wonderful entertainment. A big thank you to our drama students, production crew, volunteers and Mrs. Maurey for providing such an enjoyable production.

As we prepare for Veterans Day on November 11th, may we all take a few extra moments to remember those who have served and those who continue to serve our great country. We also need to remember the families that “share” their loved ones with America everyday. Take the time this weekend to thank a veteran for their service.

Elementary Chapel

Tyler Tolbert, Youth Minister at First Christian Church, taught the kids a valuable lesson on Thanksgiving. Whatever gift you're given, you need to be thankful for that. It's always good to say, "Thank You" and mean it. In Luke 17:11-19, Jesus healed ten lepers and only one ran back to thank Jesus. In Genesis 24:48, the servant bowed and gave thanks to God. It's easy to thank God when things go well. Habbakuk 3:17-18 tells that even if everything goes wrong in life, give thanks to God. "Don't forget to say thank you to God!"

Be sure to ask your child about Mr. Tolbert's great stories! (hint: water slide)

Junior & Senior High Chapel

Pastor Dan DeFriece, Senior Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Seymour, called attention to "Do It Yourself Religion".

Judges 17:6 says, "There was no king in Israel in those days. Each man did what he thought was right." No king = No set standard. Everyone did as they believed to be true or felt to be right. We still do the same thing today...even in church.

It doesn't matter what you believe. What matters is what is true and you will only find the truth in the Bible. What you feel does not always reflect truth. Feelings need to be measured by God.

Winter Recess Guidelines

As we enter into the winter season, we believe outdoor recess is an important and valuable part of the student’s day. Fresh air, exercise and time spent outside afford students a break from the structure of the classroom. Teachers agree that students perform best at school when they have an opportunity for vigorous outdoor play, so we try to get them out whenever possible. However, because there are times when it is not safe for children to be outdoors, we will be following the guidelines listed below to determine whether we will have inside or outside recess.

It will be imperative that your child is dressed appropriately (jackets, gloves, and hats) for the cold weather and prepared to play outdoors.

Winter Recess Guidelines

The National Nurses’ Association has established the following guidelines for outdoor recess during the winter months.

  • Feels like 25 degrees and above (considers wind chill factor) - Outdoor recess
  • Feels like 24 degrees or below (considers wind chill factor) - Inside recess

"el día de los muertos"

1st year Spanish students made sugar skulls as they learned about the Mexican holiday "el día de los muertos." Students learned that Hispanic children buy or make them to remember and honor family members who have died.

Christmas Play Music

YouTube videos with the words to the songs for this year's Christmas program are available here. Have your child learn their songs by playing them at home. Students also have them on Google Classroom, so you can have them put on headphones and listen to the songs on their own as well.
