From the Director's Desk

Scheduling for parent/teacher conferences are open. Please follow the directions below to schedule a conference with your child's teacher. Conferences are set up for 10 minutes. If you would like more time with the teacher, please schedule a separate time to meet so that we can stay on time during conference days. We look forward to meeting with you!

This Friday, September 20th, the Mary K. Chapman Speech and Hearing Clinic will visit ECDC to perform hearing screenings. All children in PK4 and TK will be screened. Results will be sent home in parent mailboxes.

This week we also welcome several special guests to the school! The firefighters will bring their truck on Monday and discuss fire safety with the preschoolers. On Tuesday, Officer West will talk to the children about being a police officer and let them look inside his police cruiser. On Thursday, Dr. Keller will visit to tell us all about her career as a pediatrician. These visitors come during our studies of "Our Community." Ask your children what they learn from our special guests!

I hope to see you all at Trivia Night Friday! Have a blessed week. -Mrs. McGough

Volunteering for Activities

The Diocese of Tulsa sets the policies and procedures for individuals volunteering in our schools. Because these policies are required by the diocese, it is important that we abide by all regulations and requirements.

At Marquette we are fortunate to have a local administrator on staff who maintains these volunteer records and monitors when paperwork, background checks, or signatures need updating. All of this information is housed in the VIRTUS database.

Since the process for obtaining and reviewing the requirements takes time, it is imperative that field trip permission slips or any other volunteer paperwork be returned on time. If the information is not returned by the date required, the volunteer will not be allowed to participate. If we do not have enough cleared volunteers, this can also lead to cancellation of activities.

Occasionally during the school year, your child's teacher may plan field trips or activities that require volunteers. Please know that our first priority is your children's safety. The process in place for clearing volunteers is such that we can insure each child will be kept safe during the activity. Directions for registering as a volunteer were sent home at the beginning of the school year. Copies of these directions are also available in our office. If you have questions about our volunteer policies, please feel free to contact Mrs. McGough directly.

Fall Pictures at ECDC

Picture days are September 23rd and 24th. Photos will be taken outside. No orders are necessary prior to picture day. Proofs will be sent home in a few weeks for you to make your choices. Individual and class photos will be taken. Your child will be assigned a day to take his/her photo. Mrs. Bergner will send out the assignments this week. All children may wear free dress on both the 23rd and 24th.
