We have a special guest on our Support Group Meeting this October - Dr. Craig Hofmeister of Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Dr. Craig Hofmeister is assistant professor of medicine at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. Dr. Hofmeister received his medical degree from The Ohio State University and completed his internship, residency, and fellowship training at Loyola University Medical Center and Loyola Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center in Illinois. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology. Dr. Hofmeister's clinical and research interests include multiple myeloma and blood and marrow transplantation. Dr. Hofmeister is co-leader of the multiple myeloma program at the OSUCCC-James and is supported by grants from the Lance Armstrong Foundation, Cancer and Leukemia Group B (CALGB), and National Cancer Institute (NCI).
Cure Panel Talk Show’s co-host Gary Petersen would be sharing with us the work done on his site, myelomasurvival.com and his experience through his quest for collating survival data from hospitals and research institutions from across the nation. His website is one of the best sources for myeloma survival data and life expectancy by specialists and hospitals.
The meeting would be hosted by support group leader Pat Killingsworth and he would be accompanied by Cynthia Chmielewski .

Cynthia Chmielewski is a Jersey Girl! She was born and raised in “The Burg” made famous by the novels of Janet Evanovich. After graduating from Rutgers University she secured a job as a special needs educator and has been teaching ever since. Cynthia was diagnosed with Stage 3 Multiple Myeloma in 2008 and began treatment with novel therapies immediately. She retired from teaching after 28 years of service when a Stem Cell Transplant failed to put her into remission. Now that she is retired she uses her passion for education to teach a new group of “students”- myeloma patients and their caregivers. Cynthia is an active member of the Philadelphia Multiple Myeloma Networking Group, a trained mentor, and participates in several online communities. She also is very active on Twitter. Naturally her Twitter name is @MyelomaTeacher.
