Welcome to September!

Autumn is nearly here!

Big picture

Its time for the changing of the seasons!

Its a book-lover's dream - cool crisp air, changing and falling leaves, coffee or tea (or both!), oversized sweaters, and weather that just demands that you stay indoors and read!

Wrapping up the Summer Reading Program

Kids Summer Reading Program!

This year's theme was Libraries Rock! It was a big summer for us - we had 104 sign-ups total, 18 of which were 13-17 year olds. 44 kids turned in at least one 800 minute reading log, with a grand total of 160 reading logs turned in! This represents just over 2,133 hours of reading! Each kid that turned in a completed reading log got to pick out a free book courtesy of the Friends of Skagit Libraries.

Congrats to all of you AMAZING readers out there! We received so many Summer Reading logs from each of you that our drawer is overflowing!

Here's the winners of our Summer Reading Prize Drawings:

Thank you to everyone for spending time with us at our activities this summer - we had great attendance!

This was the third year that we partnered with Concrete Summer Learning Adventure to offer storytime and crafts once a week at the school. This year we also hosted the middle school group at the library where we had a great time playing library-related games!

We also hosted a variety of programs related to this year's theme - from Tune Trivia to drumming, to rock painting, and more!

We had a blast with you all this summer, and we look forward to doing it again with you next year!

Adult Summer Reading Program!

Summer Reading wasn't just for kids - adults were able to get share in the fun as well with our Book Bingo card competition. Hopefully you were able to read some books in genres you wouldn't ordinarily pick up!

Here's the winner of our Adult Summer Reading Program grand prize (Kindle Fire 7 Tablet):

THANK YOU to those of you who stopped by our Book Sale during Cascade Days!

The Upper Skagit Library Foundation put on the annual Book Sale on August 18th during Cascade Days. From the moment the books went out on display we had an amazing crowd of shoppers and supporters! We were very glad to hear several people mention that we had books that they had been wanting to buy for a long time! What luck!

A huge thank you to those who volunteered their time to man the event, from set-up to clean-up and the sales time in-between - we couldn't have done it without you! A HUGE thank you to John and Gail Boggs who have been leading the event for many years! This was their last year as the main event organizers. Thank you both for everything you've done!
