From the Principal:
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because I have so much to be thankful for this year. I'm so thankful for my wife Carla, my son Cole, and my daughter Kailey as well as my extended family. I'm also thankful for my wonderful Battlefield family. I am so blessed to work in Catoosa County Schools and have the honor of working at the BESt school. Working with the BES staff, students, and parents is an honor and privilege. The warm smiles, high fives, and hugs bring so much joy to my job. During November, I hope you will express your "thankfulness" to our staff with a short note, message, phone call or email of appreciation.
The weather is changing and this is the time of year where we experience closings and delays. Make sure you are signed up for our text alert so that you receive the notifications that school is closed, delayed, or even closing early. If you have questions about getting setup with the text alert, give us a call and we will walk you through the process.
Please help us keep our cafeteria debt down by sending in payments for breakfast and lunch charges. Our current debt is over $900. If you have questions or need to work out a payment plan, you can contact our Cafeteria Manger, Ms. Jenny at jhastick.bat@catoosa.k12.ga.us or (706) 866-9183.
Thank you for supporting our Moon Pie sale. We are currently getting all the orders processed in the system. We will announcing our winners very soon. Moon Pie orders are scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday, November 15th and we will distribute on Thursday, November 16th.
If you have driven by, you have seen our new front sidewalk. The old sidewalk was definitely showing it's age and not safe. We are thankful for the school system supporting this project. We are also in the process of having a concrete pad poured behind the cafeteria. We will be moving our picnic tables to the new concrete area so they can be used more frequently. We hope to have enough funds to have a cover added to the concrete slab so that the area can be used for outdoor lunch, class projects, or just a fun area to learn outdoors.
Two important November dates for your calendar. We will have our Veterans Day Program on November 10th starting at 12:45. We will open the doors at 12:15. Due to space, seats will be limited. (Next year, we will be able to move our program to the LFO Theater giving us more room. We look forward to this addition.) Our BES Spelling Bee will be held for 4th and 5th grade on November 17th. Fourth grade will start at 8:15 and fifth grade will begin at 9:15.
Dr. Smith and I wish each of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. School will be closed from November 20th until November 24th. School will resume on Monday, November 27th.

Bus Driver Appreciation
We recently honored our bus drivers with a goodie bag and a yummy donut for their service to our school. Battlefield has the BESt bus drivers and we appreciate all they do to get our kids to and from school safely each day.
