Family Engagement Newsletter November 2022
Dear Families,
This Thanksgiving, there is so much to be thankful for, and I am sure you agree that the list is endless. From our families and staff to all our students, we could not do this wonderful but sometimes difficult work without you. Our student ambassadors have worked tirelessly on the sock drive, cumulatively collecting over 1000 pairs of socks to support the Action Team to help keep feet warm in the cold winter months. Our entire student and staff have donated over 1700 items to our local food pantry just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. Our Chorus, music teacher, and office staff have organized the wonderful Veterans ceremony to honor over 50 veterans who spent the morning with us this past Thursday. I am extremely proud and appreciative of all the work everyone at CES has done thus far and there is so much more that I can add to the list of things everyone does every day. All we have to do is look around, and you will see our generous and supportive community in Carver. We are grateful and we are a community!
Thank you for your continued support,
Ruby C. Maestas

ANNUAL ASPEN UPDATE
It is imperative that we have everyone complete the Annual Aspen Update for each of your students. We need this information updated yearly so that the Health Office or we can reach you in the event of an emergency. This is also where we get the information to compile the Family Directory and receive permission to post photos of students. We are so proud of the work their work at school, and we want to share this with you. If you need assistance, please stop by the school any day, between the hours of 9 and 2. One of the office staff can guide you through the process. If you can log into Aspen at home but still need assistance, please call the office. Mrs. Yenulevich or Mrs. Lopez can walk you through the process.

HEALTH OFFICE INFORMATION
Scheduling Appointments
Daily attendance in school is important. Please do your best to schedule your student’s appointments with their medical or dental providers outside of school hours. If, despite all attempts, the appointment must occur during the school day, please strongly consider a tardy arrival or early dismissal rather than a full-day absence.
Please see the attached letter from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health regarding steps to prevent seasonal illness DPH AAP Letter: Preventing Illness.
Bus Incentive at CES
This month at CES, we implemented a new Bus Incentive Program to encourage positive bus behavior amongst the students and foster a supportive bus community. Bus riders are cooperatively working together to earn a special incentive at the end of each month. Good Luck, Bus Riders! We know you can do this!

ATTENDANCE AT CARVER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
A Friendly Reminder About Attendance
Please use your best judgment when keeping your child home from school. For example, if your child is running a fever or experiencing stomach issues, we would expect your child to stay home. Please do your best to schedule vacations around school days. We have a limited number of days to work with your child, and we want to make every day count! For additional information, please refer to page 21 of our 2022-2023 Student Handbook. Remember to email cesabsent@carver.org and your child's teacher when they are absent from school. We appreciate your support.
