The first accusers/ what made them start accusing people/ explanations for the symtoms
The town’s people and young girls ( Ann Putnam, Abigail Williams, and Reverend Paris) were accusing people of being witches because they were screaming and having convulsions. Some of the explanations for the girls behavior could have been adolescent hysteria and of ergot poisoning. However there is no definite answer.
Who were accused?
There were 19 men and women that were accused of witchcraft and put to death. Some were accused because they were screaming and having convulsions.
What was used as evidence to prove someone was a witch?
Some of the evidence was confession from the accused. There were eye “witnesses.” They would make a cake with the “witches” urine and have dogs eat it and if she screamed she was a witch.

The Salem witch trials occurred in between February 1692 and May 1693.
The accused were executed by drowning, hanging, and pressing.
The accused were to recite the lord’s prayer with our slip ups are they would be found guilty of preforming witchcraft.
Why might the economy of Massachusetts have caused the hysteria?
Because the people that were higher up in class were acusing the lower class farm people of being witches and wizards.
