1st – 5th Grade Dismissal Changes!

School is off to a great start, and as we are getting into a groove, it is important to us that we make changes that meet the needs of our students and families. One area that we want to address is our dismissal procedures. Starting tomorrow, August 23rd, the main gate close to the corner of Hurley and Bell will be closed about 1 hour prior to dismissal. We ask that cars enter through the gate at the end of the parking lot on Bell St. When you enter, you will drive through the parking lot to wait in line. As you come to the front of the school where students are, there will be cones that create two lanes. The lane on the right will be for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. The lane on the left will be for 1st and 2nd grade families to drive through and pull in to the 1st and 2nd grade dismissal area. All cars will then exit through the same gate at the end of the parking lot on Hurley. Families with multiple students should pick them up wherever the YOUNGEST student is.

We are hoping this will limit several issues including merge points and backing up traffic onto the street. Please note: If you park in the main parking lot, it may be difficult to exit during the 10 mins following the bell. If you plan to park and walk, it is recommended you park in the parking lot at the end of the school, near the entrance on Bell that we are asking people to use.

While this may take a few days to adjust to, we believe that ultimately it will make the end of the day safer for everyone.

REMINDER: This is for 1st through 5th grade dismissal only. It does not impact arrival or Kindergarten dismissal.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
