Bobcat Den Meeting Summary
This month in our Bobcat Den Meeting, students learned about respect. We learned that being respectful tells people you not only care about them, but you care about yourself too! We focused on respecting people, places, and things. Ask your Bobcat what they learned about respect this week!

Meet Our Staff, Mrs. Naumann
Cognia Survey Link and Information for Families
As part of our continuous improvement efforts, this year our district will be participating in a systems-level accreditation process with Cognia. Cognia is an accreditation organization working with schools around the world to improve their systems. The accreditation we are seeking through the process will extend to all the schools within our district.
One part of the accreditation process includes seeking feedback from our students, staff and families. This week, surveys were shared with students in grades 3-12 and with our staff. Families also have the opportunity to provide feedback. Participation in the survey is optional. Each survey has two components- a portion asking for demographic information and a portion asking for feedback on our district’s culture and climate. The survey questions come directly from Cognia, the accreditation organization, and were not written by our staff.
After selecting whether to respond to the survey in English or in Spanish, families are asked to select from a list of schools in our district where their children attend. If you wish to respond only one time, please select “South Lyon Community Schools” from the list rather than an individual school. Some families will find that they are able to submit one set of responses on behalf of the experience of all of their students in the district this year. If one set of responses matches your experiences, please submit once. When you reach the question asking how long your oldest child has been at the school, you may respond with the length of time you’ve had students in the district.
Others may feel the need to submit more than one response because their children’s individual experiences are different. You are welcome to submit more than one response in these cases but we do ask that you submit no more than one response per student you currently have enrolled in our district. If you choose to submit multiple responses, you may select a specific school in each response.
During the demographic portion of the survey, which can be skipped in whole or part, families are asked their oldest child’s grade, how many years their oldest child has attended a particular school or the district, the gender of the individual completing the survey, their racial identification, and whether or not they identify as Hispanic. If you wish, you can skip over the demographic portion of the survey. You can also skip any individual questions within the demographic portion. You are still able to provide feedback on the culture and climate portion of the survey without completing the demographic questions.
Here is the survey link for families.
Survey results will be used by our district leadership team to determine future areas of focus as well as strengths of our district.
