HSD - Title 6
Native American/Alaska Native Education Program
Happy Native American Heritage Month!
This month started with two of our Title 6 students reading a powerful proclamation for the Washington County Board of Commissioners meeting. This proclamation was in honor of Native American Heritage Month. These are the moments that make our ancestors proud.
Don't forget to Rock your Mocs the week of Nov. 14-20th! Check out how the City of Hillsboro web page highlights our culture and the city library for Native authors' recommended book list. This information is too good to be reserved for one month out of the year so let's do our part to get the information out all year long.
I am excited to say we will be meeting in person for a special dinner and time to connect at our newest elementary school in North Plains, OR. Please join us if you can. There will be room for the kids too. RSVP so we can get a good count for dinner.
This month can be a bit hectic with no-school days and holidays off from school. Please make sure your teacher and school have your most current email addresses and phone numbers. Emails and phone calls are the primary forms of communication for teachers and staff.
Finally, as the first quarter comes to an end this week, please reach out to Jenny or me if you need help getting connected to school staff or programs for additional support. We are here to help you navigate the resources.
In Solidarity,
Daria & Jenny
