Abortion
Powers of the governments
The debate
Various legal, cultural, and religious points have been made to support great legal restrictions on abortion are to just completely prohibit the practice. While others argue that it is the woman's right as to whether or not they carry out the pregnancy to full term.
What is abortion? What started this?
The medical definition of an abortion is the spontaneous expulsion of an embryo or fetus from the uterus before it is sufficiently developed to survive independently. It all started with a woman who wanted to have an abortion but the state deemed it illegal so she took the case up to the Supreme Court.
Levels of Government
Federal
Jane Roe, a pregnant mother who wished to obtain an abortion, sued on behalf of all woman similarly situated in an effort to prevent the enforcement of Texas statutes criminalizing all abortions except those performed to save the life of the mother. The Supreme Court ruled in her favor stating that Texas state laws were to vague. Women had the right to choose to have an abortion but states have the right to set strict laws pertaining to abortions.
State
Texas is one of the states that has the most restrictive abortion laws in the United States. Including:
- Woman must receive state-directed counseling that includes information designed to discourage her from having an abortion and then wait 24 hours before the procedure is provided.
- The performance of medication abortion is prohibited.
- The parent of a minor must consent and be notified before an abortion is provided.
- Public funding is available for abortion only in cases of life endangerment, rape or incest.
- A woman must undergo an ultrasound before obtaining an abortion; the provider must show and describe the image to the woman. If the woman lives within 100 miles of an abortion provider she must obtain the ultrasound at least 24 hours before the abortion.
Local/ religious

Opinion
I do not think that abortion is morally wrong but I can understand why some people would choose to have one. It goes against my religion but I think the government shouldn't be able to regulate abortion because it concerns an individual's decision and that should just rest on them.
