Winter Party
If you would like to help with the Winter Party that will take place on Friday, December 22 from 10:30-11:30, please send me an email. We can only have four parents and two will be the room moms. If more than two fantastic parents volunteer, we'll draw names. :) Mrs. Corbin has given me some items they could use for the party. If you would be so kind to take a look at the sign-up, that would be great! Here is the link:

Indiana T-shirt
On Monday, your child will be coming home with something special. Our class was able to make an Indiana t-shirt with Red Rohal! I have kept these shirts here at school to celebrate Indiana's birthday which is on Monday. I will also let you know the washing directions as they are slightly different the first time you wash them.
Absence and Mr. Gabriel
Just a note that I will be absent December 11 and 12 (Monday and Tuesday) as I will be attending a conference in Indianapolis. I believe I will have the same guest teacher both days, but make a note to contact the main office on those days if there are any changes. Mr. Gabriel will still be here teaching away! We will celebrate him on December 13 and wish him well as he heads off to a new student teaching experience. I have some AWESOME school supplies he will need in which the children will present to him on that day. Costco is the BEST place to go for these kinds of things! Boy did the money stretch. Expo markers, Sharpies, Post-it notes, pencils, construction paper to name a few. This will be so helpful for him when he gets his first classroom because of you and your generosity!
For the Love of Reading
The wrapped books are starting to come in! The three clues are fantastic on them. It will be fun to watch everyone guess and open at the Winter Party. Just a friendly reminder the wrapped books are due Wednesday, December 20. Your child should have brought home their "secret person" and some ideas last week.
Information from the Student Council:
Wacky Hair Day for Friday, December 8th.
On Friday, December 8th Union Elementary will have a Wacky Hair Day! Crazy hair day is a great just-for-fun celebration at Union for students to express their wild side. On Crazy Hair Day, students are encouraged to come in with the wackiest and most creative hair design that they can possibly imagine – hair gel and hair color are all fair game. Thank you for showing your school spirit!
Collection Drive for Children’s Hospital for December 11th-15th
This year, Union Elementary student council would like to support other children at a local children’s hospital in Indianapolis. Some of the supplies the children’s hospitals are in need of are: mechanical pencils, black pens, fun and colorful pocket folders, calculators (scientific and graphing), Crayola crayons, dry erase makers, student scissors, flash drives, 1.5 inch 3-ring binders, iTunes gift cards for iPads, copy or printer paper, and lined note cards. We will be collecting these items from Monday, December 11th through Friday, December 15th in front of the café. Please consider donating to help those children in need.
Flannel & Frost Spirit Day for Friday, December 22nd
On Friday, December 22nd our school will have a Flannel and Frost Spirit Day! Students are encouraged to wear any sort of flannel or winter type clothing to school as we celebrate winter at your classroom winter party! Thank you for showing your school spirit!
