Virtual Learning Extended thru 11/30

Unity Day - November 18th

At Butler Middle School we are celebrating Unity Day by wearing ORANGE the 3rd Wednesday of every month. Watch the daily announcements for reminders.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences will be on Thursday, November 19th from 4:00 - 7:00pm and done virtually through WebEx. Teachers have set up time slots to schedule these conferences to support our virtual. structure. To maximize as many spots as possible we are keeping conferences to five minutes a piece with individual teachers and 10 minutes with a team of teachers.

To schedule a meeting please click on Butler's P/T Conference Scheduling Document. If a teacher or team has all their time slots full reach out to the teacher or team to find a time to connect. When scheduling a time please strongly consider having the student in the meeting with you. We have found that the conferences involving the students are most effective. Prior to conferences, set aside a few minutes to set up a device with WebEx. Follow these directions to set up one of your devices. There are options to use a mobile device (phone, tablet, etc) or a computer.

The Waukesha Public Library is launching a new service for Homework Help utilizing CARES funding to help students and residents in Waukesha and Jefferson counties. The service is called HelpNow and offers live online tutoring (2-11pm), a writing lab, test prep, study tools, etc. One of the many features available is students can do one of the practice tests for the ACT or AP tests and then connect with a tutor that can look at the test results and discuss

areas to concentrate studying on. You can learn more about it at

https://bridgeslibrarysystem.org/homework-help/ There is also an introductory video at https://youtu.be/5Zf424Wi31k. Students will need a library card from one of the public libraries in Waukesha/Jefferson counties to be able to access this service. The libraries will also offer temporary (60 day) virtual cards through the Cafe catalog.

Attendance Procedures

Big picture
Please note, all School District of Waukesha schools now use Safe Arrival to report absences, late arrivals and early pick-ups. Please use this for all attendance needs. This is the preferred method of reporting student attendance vs. calling the school or leaving a voicemail. We are able to process the information quickly and accurately when everyone uses Safe Arrival. Thank you for following this attendance procedure.

There are 3 options available for Safe Arrival.

1) Phone - 1-866-490-7371 (same# for all schools)

2) Website (https://go.schoolmessenger.com)

3) Safe Arrival App (the fastest and quickest method)

Directions for all three linked below.

Please make a note of this for your student's attendance needs. We recommend you save the phone number as a contact in your phone, bookmark the website or download the app on your phone before you need it. The phone number is also located on our main Butler MS webpage for quick reference.

Safer Student Drop Off Before and After School

Student Drop-off/Pick-up

Butler Campus

  • Parent drop off and pick up can be done off the half circle drive off Michigan Ave (Door #10) OR off the corner of Hine and Michigan Ave (Door #11). To help with social distancing and increase the traffic flow we encourage you to use Door #11 as this has seen very little useage so far this shool year. Please do not drop off at door #1 as it is no longer our main entrance and will be used for bus drop off only.

  • Dropping off and picking up during school hours

    • The main office has changed locations to the North side of the school by Door #10 (Michigan Avenue). Students dropped off or picked up during the school day should be take place at Door #10. Students being dropped off, will need to press the door buzzer where office staff will allow the student in. Parents/Guardians will not be allowed to enter the schools during this pandemic period. Students getting picked up will need a prior request made by their parents. Students will then be released when the parent/guardian arrives.

Blair Campus (6th graders except those students in QUEST or Dual Language)

Parent drop off and pick up - students should be dropped off just north of the main entrance where there is a small portion where the road is widened. This will provide a safe drop off zone for students. We ask that you wait patiently to drop off in this location to ensure your student and others arrive at school safely.

Student Safety

Please remind students to use the crosswalks around Butler if they walk or get dropped off. This is for everyone's safety. Before and after school Michigan and Hine Avenues are extremely busy. We have two crossing guards in the morning and two in the afternoon. Parents please continue to drive slowly and carefully around school.
