Cloverdale Elementary News

Welcome to our first Cloverdale Elementary weekly newsletter!
Welcome to our first weekly Cloverdale Elementary Newsletter. If I have not had the pleasure of meeting you yet, my name is Genaro García and I am the very proud principal of Cloverdale Elementary.
At Cloverdale we strive to be Leaders by Example. As I mention to our students during announcements, this means that we always try to do the right thing even when no one is looking.
As part of our school's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS), we also learn to ROAR. This is a matrix that exemplifies our core values of being Respectful, Organized, Accountable, and Responsible.
We also know that a FAIL is only a First Attempt in Learning and that we learn best from our mistakes. When someone makes a mistake we say "It's Cool!"
AVID - Cloverdale is also an Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) school. As part of AVID we have three school goals that we work on at all grade levels. These are Organization skills, Note-taking, and using a planner or calendar.
Distance Learning - I truly appreciate the passion for education and learning from our entire school community. Thank you to all of the families including parents, guardians, relatives, babysitters, and many others for your patience and flexibility during distance learning. Thank you to all of you who have completed your annual information updates and for coming into the school to pick up student materials and receive support when necessary. We have the best school staff in our district. They are passionate and dedicated to give your children the best education and support. If you have any questions, concerns, or technical difficulties, please reach out to your child's teacher and/or our office as necessary. We are here to support you.
Communication - Please continue to listen and read through our Superintendent's weekly updates. I also strongly encourage you to download our Cloverdale Elementary App from the App store or Google Play if you have not already done so. We use it to help keep you up to date and share resources that may be of interest to you.
Thank you all again for your support and all of the encouragement and love you share for our school community.
Sincerely,
Genaro García

SEL Focus Of The Week
Recognizing feelings and the Power Thoughts Have on Our Feelings
Emotions, or feelings, can change the way our bodies:
Look and sound on the outside and feel on the inside.
People can feel and show their emotions differently.
Emotions can be mild or strong.
Emotions can be affected by how we are thinking.
We can change our thoughts so that we think in more positive ways and feel more positive.
Our thoughts influence our feelings and actions.
