Sylacauga High School

Sylacauga High School continues to stay active with academic growth, fine arts activities, and athletic events. SHS students enjoyed all the celebrations of Homecoming, Red Ribbon Week, Attendance and PBIS activities, and the end of the 2022 football and volleyball season. Congratulations to Miss Homecoming 2022, Amari Headen!

Additional activities this month: SHS Seniors had the opportunity to apply to colleges for free in October! Many took advantage of this opportunity to further their education. In addition, Seniors had an opportunity to complete their FASFA paperwork. We are excited to see what the future holds for our Seniors. SHS Marching Band participated in several competitions this month. Congratulations on receiving Overall Superior Band. We are proud of your hard work. The band's Haunted Bandroom was a huge success during the Halloween weekend. Basketball games kick off November 11th with the SHS Girls playing Pleasant Grove (away). See the schedule below and come help us cheer on our Aggies!

Thank you, parents, for coming to meet with your child's teacher during our Parent Conference Day. We had 70+ parents visit with SHS teachers and staff. Your participation shows your child you value their education. We are glad to have you join us on that journey.

Congratulations to senior Peyton Fricks for signing with Tocca Falls College to play soccer. We are proud of your accomplishments!

Ms. Moyer's 11th grade English class enjoyed hearing Mr. Ryan Coleman, Lead Architect of Difference Architecture, discuss the requirements for designing a recreational center. The students are busy planning and designing a space in town that would impact community members.

Safety cones are now in place on Norton and Broadway at the crosswalk. Please be mindful as you approach the area. We also had new cameras and a door buzzing system installed. Safety is a top priority, and we are taking every precaution to keep your child safe while at school.

SHS teachers have been just as busy as the students. Our Science, Math, and ELA teachers participated in PD geared just for them. We also spent a few days building school culture and ensuring procedures were in place for all classrooms. We believe in providing our teachers with the right tools to educate our students.
