Destination Imagination

Have you heard?

There is an amazing program offered by Midlothian ISD called Destination Imagination.


Is your child creative? Does your child like to tell stories? Do they like to build things? Do YOU want them to be independent thinkers? If so, then sign up below!

If you’re interested in signing your student up to be on a Rising Stars (K-2) non-competitive team or a competitive team (3-12), please fill out the Google form through the link at the bottom. For more information, check out their YouTube site and challenges below.

Please keep in mind that in order for us to have teams, there must be at least 1 team manager volunteer for each team and an appraiser for the tournament. Please consider volunteering! Below is QR code to the Google form that we would like you to fill out if you and/or your student is interested in this program. The deadline for filling out this form is September 16, 2022.


PARENT MEETING: We will be having a parent informational meeting at Dieterich Middle School cafeteria on September 8th, 2022 at 5:30 p.m.

3rd / 4th Grade Students!

Our 3rd and 4th grade students are receiving their chromebooks this week, so we need to collect our 3rd and 4th grade devices and chargers! Please be sure your child has these items to allow us to switch out the devices efficiently.

Help Needed!

We are searching for business, parent, and community representations for our Campus Improvement Plan Committees. Typically, we meet one time in the fall to develop campus goals. Then we will meet quarterly to review our progress. Our meetings are held from 3:30 - 4:30. Please email shannon.blake@misd.gs if you can volunteer!

A note from Dr. Blake

LME Families,


Welcome to the 2022 - 2023 school year! This year our focus will be on Chasing Greatness and Building Champions - #WhateverItTakes! Our goal is to maximize student academic achievement while fostering leadership characteristics to help each student become their personal best.


As many of you know, I completed my doctoral work last spring in Educational Leadership. Additionally, I got married this summer, so I have the same face but a new name (Dr. Blake)! My new email address is shannon.blake@misd.gs. I am sure it will take some time for all of us to get used to this change!


This fall, we get to welcome Kindergarten - 2nd Grade Coleman students to the Miller campus Coleman families will use the same morning drop off line as Miller families, and recess and lunch will be combined as well. Specials and dismissal lines will be separated. We have created many protocols and procedures for this transition, and we thank you for your patience as we adjust the first several days of school.


The LME Staff considers it an absolute privilege to serve you and your families, and we cannot wait to get started! We are thankful for strong family support and welcome your input! Together, we are better!

The rest of the week

To allow students to learn and practice procedures, we will expect them to enter the school without a parent / guardian starting Friday. Please say your good-byes and give hugs to your children before they enter the building. Learners will report directly to the cafeteria or their classrooms, and personnel will be available to direct students.


Kindergarten Parents - Your child’s teacher sent home ½ sheet cardstock necklaces with yarn. PLEASE put your child’s first and last name on the card and then have your child wear it the first week of school (through August 19. Your child is important to us, and we want to make sure their first week on campus is a GREAT one!

Lunches this week

We LOVE visitors at LME, but we ask that you refrain from joining your child for lunch until Thursday, August 18. This is a BIG week of learning procedures and expectations for our students. Delaying your visit for lunch until Thursday would be most appreciated!


You can pre-register for lunch too! Click the link below. Pre-Registering allows our front office staff to print badges prior to arrival!

Breakfast and Lunch

The free federal breakfast and lunch program has expired, so breakfasts and lunches will be an expense. Snacks may also be purchased.

Arrival and Dismissal

The 1st week of school is a learning week for new students (Kindergarteners, in particular), parents, and staff to LME! Arrival and dismissal takes a long time the first several days, and we are asking for your patience! Student safety is our #1 priority!


You can help! Please have your child practice opening / closing car doors and buckling / unbuckling seat belts!

  • We will not release your child to you without a car card.
  • If you do not have one, then please stop by the front office to get one. You will need a valid ID.

Water Bottles

Your child is encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle to school each day. Please make sure your child's name is on it. Bottle fillers are available in each hallway.

Deliveries

We will only accept "essential" deliveries.

Those deliveries include medicine and forgotten lunches.

Volunteers

Going on a Field Trip? - Fill this out!

If you plan to attend a field trip with your child or help in your child’s classroom this year, then you will be required to pass a background check. The background check is free and can be found at https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/MjU0NDplbi1VUw==. The process can take up to 3 weeks, so please do not wait until field trips are scheduled to complete this process.
