EMS SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION - DUE APRIL 16TH BY 4.00 PM

ALL components of the EMS Scholarship Application (online, Statement of Activities, and Personal Descriptor (if applicable) are due to MS. DOMINGO by Wednesday, April 16th by 4.00 PM.

BEACH HOUSE THEATRE SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship award is open to Grade 11 or Grade 12 students.


The Beach House Theatre (Shakespeare by the Sea) is offering a $500.00 scholarship for students involved in the Performing Arts at their school. Although there will be preference to a student who is planning to pursue post-secondary opportunities and training in the field of technical theatre, all students with a keen interest in pursuing any aspect of the performing arts are invited to apply. The successful student will also be invited to participate in a mentorship program with an industry leader during the run of the Beach House Theatre in August 2014. This opportunity is priceless!


Students who have been involved in stagecraft (courses/experiences), acting, theatre technical support, or directing and who have a keen interest in a career in theatre, film or technical support should apply. In addition to completing the application, students will require a reference letter from a school staff member, which will assist the committee in making their final decision.

KPU ENTRANCE AWARDS DEADLINE EXTENDED

Deadline for the President's Award (valued at $20,000), the Merit Award (valued at $5,000) and the General Entrance Awards (ranging in value from $1,000 to $3,000) has been extended to WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16TH. For more information, follow the link.

SATA SCHOLARSHIP

SURREY ART TEACHERS’ ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP - 2014

The Surrey Art Teachers’ Association is awarding a $500.00 annual scholarship to a deserving Visual Arts student who is intending to pursue the Visual Arts at a post secondary institution.


TO APPLY:

a) The student must be a grade 11 or 12 student enrolled in a Grade 11 or 12 Visual Arts course.

b) One letter of reference from an Art Educator who is a member in good standing of the Surrey Art Teachers Association must be attached to this application (Ms. Manning or Ms. Van Weerden).

c) Please ensure that all information is accurate on the application form.

d) A collection of no more than 10 art works must be submitted, in a portfolio following the criteria listed below:

i) Ten works in total (2 views can be submitted for each 3D artwork);

ii) Submit original artwork when possible;

iii) Images may be submitted in digital JPG format;

iv) Originals are to be matted, not framed;

v) The portfolio must not be larger than 20 x 26 x 5 inches in depth.

e) In the case of Video, Multi Media, Animation or Web Design, two pieces will be accepted. These 2 pieces will be counted as part of the 10 pieces in total.

f) If any of the above criteria are not met, your portfolio will be disqualified.


IMPORTANT DATES:

1) Application and supporting paperwork must be delivered with your portfolio.

YOUR FAVOURITE CAR SCHOLARSHIP

$500 – 1 Award (Deadline: April 30, 2014)


Student Eligibility:

1) Must be attending an accredited post-secondary institution by the fall of 2014 at the latest.

2) Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a program that is at least two years in length.

LIFETIME EYECARE SOLUTIONS SERVICE HERO ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIPS

Lifetime Eyecare is presenting TWO (2) very special $1,000 “Service Hero Achievement Scholarships” in order to support those special graduating 12th graders who are planning to take their education to a higher level. By identifying a top “hero” who is dedicated to supporting their community, those in need or the planet in general, this scholarship is designed to assist that student in furthering their efforts by supporting their studies. SOAR PHILANTHROPIC SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP

SUCCESS. OPPORTUNITY. ACHIEVEMENT. RESULTS.


This year we're giving out five $1000 scholarships: Academics, Adversity, Athletics & Sportsmanship, Community Leadership, Visual & Performing Arts. The deadline to apply for our scholarships is April 30, 2014.


Eligibility criteria:


- Currently attending a secondary school in the Lower Mainland

- Graduating secondary school student

- Will be attending a post-secondary institution in fall 2014

- Professional References (max. 2)

- Can ONLY apply to one of the SOAR scholarships: athletics and sportsmanship or academics or community leadership or adversity or visual and performing arts.

CORPUS CHRISTI COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP

Corpus Christi is a small Liberal Arts College, located on UBC Campus. Every student accepted at Corpus Christi is eligible to receive $500- $3500; awards granted recognize academic excellence, service, and/or need. entrance awards are granted on a rolling basis (when you apply), and specific awards will be announced in the spring of each year. Go to corpuschristi.ca/fees-aid/scholarships for more info and applications.

If you wish to be considered for all financial awards, your application and all supporting documents must reach the College before April 30. Those applying for specific awards must follow the directions associated with the individual award.

ROTARY CLUB OF WHITE ROCK SCHOLARSHIP


The Rotary Club of White Rock has established four scholarships for students residing in White Rock/South Surrey and the surrounding community who will be continuing their studies in a post-secondary educational program (academic or vocational). Candidates must hold Canadian citizenship.


CRITERIA

1. There will be four individual scholarships of $1,500.00 each payable on proof of registration at a post-secondary institution.

2. The post-secondary program can be either academic or trades training.

3. There is no age limit for applicants; mature students are encouraged to apply.

4. Applicants will be screened according to:

a. demonstrated involvement in community and school programs;

b. involvement in volunteer and service activities in the community;

c. financial need;

d. personal references; and

e. scholastic achievement.


To be considered, submissions must:

1. include a completed Community Scholarship Application (see Mr. Webster);

2. include a copy of the applicant's academic transcripts;

3. include one academic/school reference letter and one personal reference letter; and

4. be received by the Rotary Club of White Rock Scholarship Committee no later than April 30, 2014. Please note that submissions received after that date will not be considered.


Applicants are also encouraged to include with their submission:

1. a cover letter outlining why they should be chosen, and

2. a brief statement outlining their individual experience and accomplishments.

SWEAT YOUR WAY TO GRAD - ATHLETICS SCHOLARSHIP

For the student athlete who demonstrates school spirit throughout the year. Include special awards (MVP, team captain, league championship, class president etc.). Deadline: April 30, 2014.

SSSAA ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIPS

One candidate will be selected for submission for each of the following scholarships: the Big Kahuna Athletic Leadership Scholarship, the Glenn Young Scholarship, the Norm O. Barton Memorial Scholarship and the Surrey 2012 BC Summer Games Scholarship.


Eligibility criteria for the Big Kahuna Athletic Leadership Scholarship AND the Glenn Young Scholarship:

1) Student must have attended Grade 12 at a Surrey Secondary School during the year of application;

2) Be qualified to enter the first year of a post-secondary program;

3) Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.


THE BIG KAHUNA ATHLETIC LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP


The Big Kahuna Athletic Leadership Scholarship, open in competition to both boys and girls, will be awarded annually to the candidate who demonstrates leadership (active role of decision making) and service (you follow through on something which is already in place) to athletics in the school. Big Kahuna is a leader in team and institutional sporting goods including equipment, apparel, uniforms and footwear.


Basis of Selection --The winner is selected on the basis of demonstrating:

  • extent and type of leadership to the school involving athletics; (Leadership -- active role of decision making, lead by example, sportsmanship, work ethic, on time, extrawork at practice, respected by their peers, doing extra, look up to by teammates,how did you lead people? Giving direction, organizing, planning, teaching.);
  • extent and type of service to the school involving athletics. (Service—volunteering through one’s own initiative, work done that benefits another, something you did forothers.)

THE GLENN YOUNG SCHOLARSHIP


The Glenn Young Scholarship, open in competition to both boys and girls, will be awarded annually to the candidate who successfully combines academics, leadership and service to physical education and athletics in the school. This scholarship was created for deserving students who are in clear financial need.


Basis of Selection - The winner is selected on the basis of demonstrating:

  • extent and type of leadership and service to the school involving physical education;
  • extent and type of leadership and service to the school involving athletics;
  • clear financial need. (Annual family income is below $75,000)

THE NORM O. BARTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP


The Norman O. Barton Memorial Scholarship, open in competition to both boys and girls, will be awarded annually to the candidate who most fully displays the all round qualities exemplified by Surrey's first Supervisor of Physical Education.

The Selection Committee, in assessing the merits of nominees, is concerned with qualifications such as Mr. Barton possessed--high scholastic and literary attainments, physical vigor, moral force of character and ability to serve, work with, and lead others.


To be eligible, a candidate must:

  • have attended Grade 12 at a Surrey Secondary School during the year of application;
  • be qualified to enter the first year of a program leading to a Bachelor's degree in the area of physical education or sports science;
  • rank academically in the top quarter of students in his/her graduating class.


Basis of Selection - The winner is selected on the basis of:

  • leadership in and service to his/her school and/or the community;
  • participation and achievement in student activities and athletics;
  • academic achievement and promise;
  • character and personal qualities.

THE SURREY 2012 BC SUMMER GAMES BURSARY


The Surrey 2012 BC Summer Games Bursary, open in competition to both boys and girls, will be awarded annually between June 2013 and June 2018 to candidates that participated in a BC Summer Games and is currently training and/or competing in a summer games sport. This bursary was created to provide a legacy of the Surrey 2012 BC Summer Games.


To be eligible, a candidate must:

  • have participated in a BC Summer Games;
  • currently be training and/or competing in a summer games sport;
  • have attended a secondary school in the City of Surrey or White Rock during the year of application;
  • be qualified to enter the first year of a post-secondary program at a Canadian institution;
  • must not be receiving a “full ride” scholarship.


Basis of Selection - The winner is selected on the basis of demonstrating:

  • extent and type of leadership and service to the community;
  • extent and type of leadership and service to their sport;
  • extent and type of leadership and service to their school;
  • explanation of financial need.

JANICE LEE BLUE WAVE BURSARY

Janice Lee Blue Wave Bursary – a fantastic opportunity for young people aged under 19. This year we will be awarding two bursaries of up to $700 each, to young people who have experienced a mental health or substance use problem and are going on to higher education. The vision of the Janice Lee Blue Wave bursary program is to invest in the resilience, wisdom and potential of young people and to reduce some of the barriers during the major transition from high school to higher education.

2014 MONSANTO FUND OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP

Available to high school students from family farms who are enrolled in their final year of high school and are planning to enroll at a Canadian post-secondary institution (degree or diploma) in a first-year agriculture program.


Successful applicants will be awarded a scholarship valued at $1,500, based on demonstrated academic standards and leadership in the community.
