REFLECTIONS ART WORK
Creating a Roller Coaster in Mrs. Tschudy's Class
The lab was to make a "roller coaster with bumper cars". They had to build it, send a marble down from the same height each time, and hit another marble on the track. This was done 3 times with the marble on the track placed at different positions. The goal was to find out at what distance could they send down the first marble and it hit the second marble and neither marble go into the cup at the end of the track. When they had finished the lab and answered the questions, I told them they could adapt the track however they wished. This group elevated theirs and made a ramp for the marble to jump into the cup. In the video the first time the marble misses, but the second try it goes in. Jaythan is holding the ramp(eraser) but they later went on and found a way to angle the ramp just right with other objects so he wouldn't have to hold it. :)
3.6 Force, motion, and energy. The student knows that forces cause change and that energy exists in many forms. The student is expected to:
(A) explore different forms of energy, including mechanical, light, sound, and heat/thermal in everyday life;
(B) demonstrate and observe how position and motion can be changed by pushing and pulling objects to show work being done such as swings, balls, pulleys, and wagons; and
Tristan, Houston, and Jaythan creating their roller coaster.
