City Kicks Off the Community’s Latest Strategic Plan Update
New Albany recently kicked off Engage New Albany, its latest strategic plan update, a process that will involve the entire community in cultivating a shared vision for the future designed to improve the city’s quality of life and protect investment for the long term. Since the first master plan was adopted in 1998, it has been updated every five years based upon broad community input and sound planning principles.
During the year-long planning process, the city will collaborate with residents and businesses in proactively planning for an outstanding community by addressing pedestrian-friendly amenities, connectivity, mixed-use environments, parks and open space, quality architecture, traditional neighborhoods, continued economic development and sustainability.
Three community workshops (the first one will be at the Heit Center July 23 beginning at 6 pm), mobile meetings, neighborhood gatherings, surveys and a series of focus group roundtables will stimulate discussion. The city will also have a booth at various community events including the New Albany Farmers Market, Taste of New Albany and Touch-a-Truck.
