Weekly RAM Newsletter
A Brief Note from Dr. Burke
Dear Ram families,
Tuesday marks the beginning of the third quarter. Report cards will be sent home with students on Thursday, January 30th. Students in the 6th grade elective wheel will rotate to the third spoke of their wheel. Please see below for details.
As you know teen vaping has become an epidemic in our country. Recent statistics indicate 17% of 8th graders and twice as many high school students report they have vaped in the last year. We are educating all of our students on the dangers of vaping and want to educate all of our parents as well. Twin Peaks and Poway High are joining forces to present the most recent facts on the vaping epidemic. This interactive presentation will take place here at TPMS on Wednesday, January 22nd, from 7-8 pm in the Little Theater. Experts on the topic, along with a panel of middle and high school students, will be sharing up to date information. Light refreshments will be provided.
Tuesday is the last day of the Foundation's 2020 Red Envelope Fundraiser. They will share what your donations were able to purchase next week. If you haven't donated yet, there's still time.
TPMS choir would love to have new members join them as practice resumes Thursday, January 30th from 7:45am-9am in the Little Theater. Check out their website at tpmschoir.wordpress.com! Any questions, please email tpmschoirdirector@gmail.com.
The 8th grade yearbook ad deadline has been extended. Order forms are available at the front office desk, Room 405, Room 109, or online at www.tpmsyearbook.weebly.com. Please return the completed form and payment of $25 to the office by January 30th.
Parents, I also want to bring your attention to a presentation titled "Power Struggles and Screen Time" taking place next week on Wednesday, January 29th in our library. You can learn techniques that work to limit your kids' screen time on their mobile devices, TV, and gaming platforms. The class is $16/Individual or $27/Couple. Please note, scholarships are available to parents who may be in need. Contact the Caring Connections Center for more information.
And one final reminder for you to attend the forum on Measure P at Poway High School on January 30th if you would like to learn more about this very important bond measure.
I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday and remember, it's a 5/1/3 day.
Sincerely,
Dr. Burke
