The Cub's Closet Closet
The Student Services (SS) Department has been working hard to organize the Cub’s Closet to provide gently used clothes for students that are in need. To collect clothing for The Cub’s Closet, we will conduct clothing drives at each campus. We will begin one campus at a time with donations coming from the campus faculty and staff (not the general public or parents at this time). Kay will notify the campus principal when it is their turn, and also provide a monthly schedule. If you are doing some spring cleaning and would like to help stock our clothing section with gently used student clothing, sizes from PK through 12th grade, including adult sizes, that would really help get the Cub Closet going. We ask that the clothing is separated by male and female, washed, cleaned, folded, and placed in a box (please no garbage bags or hangers).
Here is the schedule:
The Cub's Closet Information
Brenham ISD has opened its first-ever....The Cub's Closet. The closet is housed in the Community Education Building and is located in room 112.
Purpose: To offer a resource for the Brenham ISD employees, parents, and students a place to come when clothing is needed. If a fire, water damage, or natural disaster has left someone clothing bare, The Cub's Closet may have something to offer.
We are stocking the closet with teacher/faculty/staff's gently used clothing. We are looking for sizes from PK through 12th grade. Please make sure the clothing items are washed and placed in a cardboard box (no garbage bags). Sort the clothing if you can.
I also have a PROM DRESS rack, so if you have any evening formal wear or your daughter's last year's prom dress...I'd love to take it off your hands.
ECLC staff will start us out with the collection of clothes. Followed by AES. Dates have been given to your principal.
Things to remember: No undergarments. No shoes. No hangers. No rips, tears, stains, popped buttons or zippers that don't work. Please ensure that the clothing is clean, and placed in cardboard boxes.
Please come take a look at The Cub's Closet! We will be happy to answer any questions/concerns/ideas you might have. We would love any input from everyone.

PARENT TIPS TO CONSIDER
-Schedule doctor's appointments before or after school or during holidays
-If your child is ill, email the Attendance Clerk or Registrar the first morning of their absence and send a note with them when they arrive back on campus.
-Arrive to school on time and attend every class period
-Make school attendance a habit. This can carry over when seeking employment
-Make sure that your child's job does not require working during the school day or after 10 p.m on school nights
-Ask for help from your campus counselor if you are having trouble with your child
PARENT INFORMATION ABOUT ATTENDANCE
Daily attendance in school is a strong indicator of future success. In addition, students earn course credits by meeting the course requirements and attending classes. Texas Education Code states that students must be present in class 90% of the time in order for a student to earn course credit or promotion to the next grade level. Attendance is also an important factor for BISD funding.
To Ensure academic engagement and successful learning, all students should be present daily by snapshot and remain academically engaged all day:
-Elementary school snapshot time is 10:00 a.m.
-Middle school snapshot time is 10:15 a.m.
-High school snapshot time is 10:00 a.m.
PARENTS AND GUARDIANS SHOULD ALWAYS SUBMIT ABSENCE NOTES TO CAMPUS ATTENDANCE PERSONNEL WHEN THEIR CHILD IS NOT PRESENT , EVEN IF THE CHILD IS SENT HOME DUE TO ILLNESS OR FOR QUARANTINE REASONS. Submitting a note for an absence will be determined to be excused or unexcused by the appropriate personnel on the campus. Parents and guardians should contact their child's school if they have any questions. Unexcused absences can increase chances of truancy-based infractions against students and lead to fines.
DID YOU KNOW?
Being in school every day ensures students have the best chance of academic success with the most instruction from teachers. Make sure that your student is in every class and every period, every day!
By sixth grade, chronic absence becomes a leading indicator that a student will drop out of high school.
Even if absences are excused, a student must attend a class 90 percent of the time to receive credit for a semester.
