Welcome Mrs. Schaffner!
Please include Mrs. Schaffner (eschaffner@valpo.k12.in.us) on emails regarding dismissal changes or early pick up along with your child's teacher. As a reminder these are due by noon. You will know it has been received when someone replies to your request. Thank you!
IN OCTOBER... WE CELEBRATE THE ORANGE HOUSE!
Book Fair: October 25th week. Watch for more information coming up about the book fair!
Apples for the Students
We are participating in Strack & Van Til Apples for the Students program again this year! This program enables our school to earn different items for our school! To earn these FREE awards we simply have to collect as many Strack & Van Til register receipts as possible from September 1st, 2021 through March 1st, 2022. Ask your friends and relatives to shop at any NWI Strack & Van Til and save every receipt. Send the receipts to school with your student as often as possible. Here at school we will count the value of the register tapes collected and redeem them for great items that benefit your child. Thank you in advance for your participation!!
Social Worker Notes
This month we begin our Monique-Burr body safety presentations. Further information regarding the presentation curriculum has been sent out via e-mail, including an opt-out form for families who do not wish for their student to participate in the lesson. Opt-out forms are due Friday October 15th.
The VCS social workers' Holiday Assistance Program is coming soon! We are seeking donors to sponsor a student or group of students for this holiday season. Be on the lookout for our donor sign-up e-mail in the coming weeks. Additionally, we will be sending out an e-mail including application information for Cooks Corners families who are interested in receiving gifts through the Holiday Assistance Program in the coming weeks.
Miss Foreman is now sponsoring our 5th grade club, Team LEAD. Team LEAD aims to spread kindness through out the school. Team LEADers will learn about kindness, empathy, helping, and leadership while being provided with opportunities to connect and share these messages with our students at Cooks Corners. Team LEAD will meet on Wednesdays during recess, and all activities will take place during school hours. If your student has reached out to join Team LEAD, you will be contacted via e-mail.
As always, feel free to contact Miss Foreman with any questions!
