ARSA Info
Do you have a hobby or passion for something (creative writing, gardening, martial arts, yoga, coding, carpentry, mentoring, puzzles, legos, photography, poetry, board games, drawing, video games, crafts, cartooning, sci-fi, etc)?
We are looking for staff members who would like to start an after school club. Come to the interest meeting being held on Thursday, 9/6 in the Library @ 4pm.
Goal #6 of DISD is that 100% of all students are actively participating in an extracurricular activity.
Your hobby could be a way to expand our scholars interest, support the very important Goal of Dallas ISD, and our very own Mission of: EVERYDAY WE DEVELOP THE WHOLE CHILD. Once a week or twice a month could be another opportunity for our scholars to connect with ARSA Staff, learning about what interest them, and have fun!!
Student Learning Objective (SLO):
TEI Expert Team will be holding Part 2 TEI Lunch n Learn for SLO and PDP. Be on the look out from Mrs. Horne. Keep information below for your reference.

Spotlight on Ms. Ortega & ARSA Family
I would like to thank everyone for my warm and caring welcome back this week. I would also like to say a huge thanks to Mrs. Ortega. She is my new part time library media assistant and has jumped right in helping in what ever needs to be done. This is going to be a great year! I am blessed.
Spotlight on Ms. Anderson
I’d like to spotlight Ms. Anderson, our newest 7th grade science instructor. Ms. Anderson is brand new to this wild game of teaching, and she comes at it with energy, effervescence and enthusiasm. She is open to whatever insights colleagues offer, always receptive to new ideas. She has persevered through technical (both hardware and software) challenges this and last week, keeping a positive attitude the whole time. It’s rare to spot her not smiling, which is naturally contagious. She makes a fabulous addition to our science team, and we are fortunate to have her.
Spotlight on ARSA Custodial Team
I’d also like to spotlight our custodial staff [if it is permissible to spotlight more than one person]. They are our unsung heroes, ever diligent to keep our campus beautiful. Coming into the building in the morning, I am impressed each day by the pristine hallways and immaculate classrooms; and when I saunter off after school toward home to relax, I know their hard work is just getting started. Each member of this department whom I have met is consistently pleasant, helpful and warm. Huge thanks to them for making ARSA a physical space in which we can all take pride in working.
Spotlight on Ms. Craig
Ms. Craig has made it her mission to keep the Social Studies team SOCIAL. Whether she is planning ahead for PLC get-togethers or just coming around to our rooms to check in on us, her energy and passion are infectious. She truly leads by example and cares deeply for her students and co-workers. We are blessed to have her on our team.
Spotlight on Ms. Billington
Ms. Billington is always willing to help whenever she is asked. This past week, with the departure of one of our ADL Teacher Assistants, it has been difficult to find someone to fill that position. I asked Ms. Billington and all she kept saying was, “No problem Ms. Nix, these are all of our kids”. She’s such an awesome and kind person. We’re thankful Ms. Billington for having you on our team!
Spotlight on Ms. K. Williams
Ms. Williams never ceases to amaze me in how she conducts our choir with excellence. It's been only two weeks and she has the students singing harmonies, standing on the risers professionally, and memorizing the songs. Her dedication to her craft is inspiring and her students are blessed to have her as their teacher. I'm so thankful she's a member of the ARSA team!
Spotlight on MANY RANGERS
Spotlight on Elective teachers for their continued support during 6th Grade Orientation. We could not fully implement our arrival and tour process without them. Special thanks to Ms. J. Miller who makes sure our auditorium and sound system needs are met.
Thanks also to Ms. Cardenas & Mr. Briones for translating and providing information for parents and students!
THANK YOU Rangers!! Until next year
Spotlight on Ms. Jones for helping lead 6th grade out during the evacuation drill. She even smiled afterwards J I appreciate her readiness and willingness.
Spotlight on the 6th grade lunch crew (Bables, Hilliard, Green, Dear, Williams, Brown, Fuller, Earl, Masters, Lacey, Coley, Ortega, Jones, our parent volunteer Ms. Fabiola, and our custodial crew). The teams works hard to get students safely in the cafeteria, ensure they eat, and leave safely and orderly back to class.
Spotlight on our Emergency Operations Team AKA Trailblazers and all of our Rangers for this week’s Evacuation Drill. The execution was simply amazing! Yes, there were some kinks, and we were certainly expended lots of energy. If we have to evacuate it will all have been worth it. THANK YOU Rangers for putting safety first and fully cooperating with our drill. Special thanks to Ms. Taylor, Ms. Crabtree, Ms. A. Lewis, and Ms. Nix for the plan visuals and editing the plan.
Spotlight on all Rangers for implementing our first SEL Advisory session. Rangers were clearly prepared and engaged in the Brain Basics conversation. Amygdala, hippocampus, and prefrontal cortex echoed through the hallways from our educators and from our students. Great work as we continue to develop the whole child and prepare them to excel in a global society.
