Classroom
Skype in the classroom - Free download. There are 3 types of programs available on their main page for Skype-ing: Collaborating with classes anywhere, finding guest speakers and taking virtual field trips. All of these categories are listed on their main webpage and already have lists setup for volunteers to connect with, try it here:
Mystery Skype is also available at another link and is described as: "... an educational game, invented by teachers, played by two classrooms on Skype. The aim of the game is to guess the location of the other classroom by asking each other questions. It's suitable for all age groups and can be used to teach subjects like geography, history, languages, mathematics and science"

APPS
I can animate - Ipad and Iphone. This paid app ($2.99) could be very useful for teachers or students. The App basically takes photos and makes them into a video. The article that I read cited using this for a science project with the time lapse and stop motion features in a seed growing project. And for more adventurous users, there are many in app features for editing your videos. The creativity for this type of app is endless!
I could not find a U.S link for this app (only UK) but if you open ITunes and search for 'I can animate' it is available for purchase.
Just for Fun
Paper and Salt - Luxurious reads about culinary favorites of historical authors. Try Mary Shelley's Kale and Fried egg tartine or Beatrix Potters gingerbread cookies.
