On Monday, August 6, 1945, was the day that the United States drop the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. The bombing killed many families, but also leaving a tearable disease behind.
The Story behind the Peace Crane
A young girl named Sadako was diagnosed with Leukiemia , which people believe came from the bombing. While in the hospital she began making these paper cranes, because who ever made 1000, was granted a wish. Before getting her wish she died , and now im her honor, they came up with the 1000 Cranes of Hope Project.

This is an organization that contains the collective wishes of patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, etc. By making your wish/ making a paper crane in general to to ad hope and support to the progress we're making as a community united against cancer.
