The South (Confederate) viewed African Americans poorly and believed that it was okay to treat them horrible and force them to become slaves.
-The North (Union) believed that African Americans should not be treated poorly and inhumane and should have equal rights like white men.

Importance of story
“An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge” is an elaborately devised commentary on the fluid nature of time. The story’s structure, which moves from the present to the past to what is revealed to be the imagined present, reflects this fluidity as well as the tension that exists among competing notions of time.

The story”The Open Boat” is a story about 4 men you are stuck at sea, in a life boat after there ship sank. They find themselves off the coast of Florida with rough seas and in a small boat. What this story tells is a story of 4 men who grow a strong bond between themselves and nature. They work together to stay alive and hopefully wait for rescue.

The important information about my story is the idea that the war kind of messed up some people. It also talks about the importance of settling down and having a family. I would say the two main things that come from my story are war and settling down with a family and a job.

These periods connect in various different ways. In each different period there is a war that effected the economy and basis of government. Also, these time periods have many fundamental flaws that you wouldn't expect a society like the United States to have. These time periods were the early stages of the Americas development which should call for some sense of how they connect.

Advancements in time:In 1850 to 1890 there weren't to many advancements to talk about. The only big ones were the dish washer and textiles. Besides these technology was not a huge thing.In 1890 to 1910 this changed too. Silent movies were made along with penicillin and vaccines. Another big advancement was the Air conditioner.All these advancements were not seen in the earlier time period and really changed how we live life even today.
Attitude of the Nation:In 1850 to 1890 the attuide of the nation was about war, farming a and segregation. The nations attitude was then changed from 1890 to 1910. People started to have more fun a do things for fun. This caused people and the nation to be happy. All during this time People who lived here really believed in the American dream and because of this were very determined to do things. So the attitude of the nation during this time period was happy and determined.

Advancements in time: In 1890 to 1910 a lot of new things were created that really helped America become advanced. These in inventions were very helpful but were some what basic. This changed in the later time period because these inventions were made better as science and technology increased. Also in 1910 to 1930 the advancements in transportation started to take place.these advancements that took place during this time period helped the American people live a simpler life.
Attitude of the Nation: In 1890 to 1910 the people were very happy and these people all believed in the American dream. As time progressed to 1910 to 1930 people still felt happy but most of all they felt nationalism like never before. World war one had ended and we were felling like a superpower. The main difference from 1890-1910 to 1910-1930 was the nationalism and the feeling that we were the best country.
